    You can ask.

What value do you put on the packaging materials?
The sellers time to pack and post your item ?
What about the ebay fees levelled on the postage - 10% ?

    And their ebay fees?

Was the fee clearly stated when you agreed the transaction?

You do know that when you buy anything from anywhere (almost) you pay more than cost price?

I knew what I was paying for when I bid for it. Less than £1 for packaging. Less than 5 mins to put it in a bag and seal it. The sellers eBay fees aren't my responsibility

I'm going to think on it before I do feedback. excessive postage will not be figured in the feedback

The bag I won on eBay arrived this morning :D

I paid £6 for postage but the post office label says that the seller paid only £2.80... Am I within my rights to request a refund of the excess?

QOC how much did you pay for the actual bag? as sometimes if the item is really cheap the seller bumps up the postage irrespective of what it actually costs and make their money that way:eek:

This is where I come unstuck. Item was £1.99, postage was £6. So still a massive bargain for it but it is bugging me that I could have £2-3 less for it :o

On balance I think I'll leave it :o

Qoc...when you give feedback I think you could mark them down on the star rating for postage charges and perhaps leave feedback saying "lovely bag,but high uninsured postage cost"...or something similar,if they just used what might sound to be standard 2nd class postage.

Its a little unfair when seller inflate postage in order to cover other factors but I guess as the purchaser you rightly take any postage cost as your opening bid and also factor it in as part of the total cost you want to pay...

Glad it was a nice bag BTW,and that you are pleased with it

Good idea if you are pleased with it and know you have got a bargain and it's only human nature to think you have been ripped of with the postage:eek:had you not been able to see the amount of postage seller paid you probably would be quite happy;)

what they've done is against the rules and is one of the many things that gives ebay a bad name. You are not responsible for their fees etc. They price the item not you and when they do they have to take into account the fees etc in the item price. The p and p costs are just that-p and p costs. They know that they are inflating the price, they also know that they are breaking the rules. eBay take a very dim view of it, quite rightly. If they wanted more money for the bag they should have put it in at a higher price.
I sell on eBay-though with free p and p as its included in the BIn price . I would report them. They are inflating the p and p price. All this dross they may come out with-eg fees/my time packing/my time queuing-is just that dross. They are all expenses to be considered into the selling price-the p and p price is just that and that alone.

it starts off a lurid green and then it adjusts to your skin - most people find it goes bright pink - probably good if your skin is a gorgeous olive or you have a holiday tan but possibly with an English mid winter pallor it might look a bit lurid ...

I live three mile from a post office, if you think I'm getting the car out and spending half an hour for free, then think again.
I sold an item BIN price £150 no problem, I sold an identical item for £144 plus six pounds p&p, same cost, same profit. Which is "fairer" ?
In truth both items should have been £137 plus £13 p&p as that is the true reflection of my costs.
All three scenarios are the same, £150 paid, costs covered £20 profit.
If I was the seller I would offer a full refund (with the buyer paying return postage), then bar the buyer.

The last time, many years ago, I bought something like this it turned a blueish purple in the end - a most unappealing colour. I think you're better off buying a shade that suits you rather than hoping it looks OK in the end. It also stayed on for well over 24hrs & looked dreadful.

Of course that was many years back & things might have got better BUT I think it's a fad thing that goes around in circles from time to time.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I don't mind paying a little bit more, but my perspective is that it was more than twice the actual amount of postage. Parking costs and what not are not my problem either. The seller knows they'll have to go to the post office and that should be taken into account in the listing price, just as your items were. I've no intention of returning it or leaving negative feedback at all. I'm far too nice to do that
