My girls were spoiled today, a few left over oven chips, leek and mushroom pie filling and peas, broccoli and pastry crust.

They fought the doves for it :)

We got them a chicken treat thingy last week. Lots of differing seeds in a fat block - marketed for chooks - and they haven't touched it

Will chop it up for the bird table

Sorry to hear about little peasha Edwink :(:(:( RIP peasha and thanks for all the eggs :A

My lovely neighbour bought round some greens for the girls this afternoon, they loved them. One perfect brown egg today. None yesterday.

Poor Doris is a bit of an outsider - the rest of the flock of 4 stay together most of the time but Doris is usually on her own. Hopefully she will integrate more soon.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Aww poor Doris. I am afraid sometimes that happens. I have to say we have not had that happen with ours yet.

Our little Langley has settled in really nicely now and in fact it is hard to tell her apart from the others.

Why are all ex batts the same blooming colour (joke). I like to name mine but at the moment having so many ex batts it is hard to tell them apart except for Langley because she has a smaller comb than the others. One of our ex batts always has dirty feathers on her head it looks as though she has used gel to keep her feathers back. I call her Chimney Sweep because she looks as though she has had her head up a chimney. Another of my ex batts looks as though she has a sunflower shape on her neck feathers so she is called sunflower, she has beautiful feathers.

    Hi Dizzy

I do hope you are managing to get everything sorted after your flooding. I know it will be early days for you yet and that you will have a mountain to climb. Just wanted to wish you all the best and I hope your Christmas goes as well as possible under your difficult circumstances. Sending you a big cyber (((((HUG))))).

Hubby has buried Peasha in the garden now. Her real name was Alopecia because no matter how many times she moulted and grew her feathers back she always had a bald patch the size of an orange on her back. In the end her name was shortened a little to Peasha. Gone to hen heaven now with some of my others.

Mine are all pets everyone of them. Not spoilt at all although saying that they did have some mash potato today and some fresh sweetcorn £1.89 for 2 - OUCH!!!!!! But they are worth it.

Pasta for their treat tomorrow and if it is cold enough Porridge on Sunday. I have their treats set out for the week so I never run out of them for them.

Just baked up a load of egg shells in the stove for them. Will crush them with a rolling pin when they have cooled down and add them to the hens feed bin in the morning.

Hope everyone is ok and their chooks too.

Anyone heard from Dizzy? Sadly she was flooded with the awful weather where she lives. Not heard from her for a while. I do hope she is ok. Chin up Dizzy we are all thinking of you,

Thanks for the tip Queen of Cheap. Have Pm'd MSE Badger but no badge yet :(

Have had an increase in eggs this past week. Have mostly had 6 a day and a couple of days we got seven. Never thought we would get a yummy omelette this time of year. Must be the mild weather. It has been around 14C here so it is hard to believe it will be Christmas day next week

Hope everyone has managed to get their Christmas shopping done this year. We only buy presents for a few family and friends and I managed to get all of that new from Car Boot sales this year so no panic for me this year or big expense. :D
