Sorry to hear you lost Miss Feisty Happygreen and you've had a bad week too edwink
:(:(
Its amazing how attached you get to their little feathered personalities. I think their endless joy in chopped grapes is something we can all learn fromI love the way they come racing across the garden flapping and clucking with excitement for treats.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Merry Christmas everyone and best wishes for a healthy and joyful 2016 (with no floods)

Sorry to hear about your little one Edwink. I have the dog cage inside with a poorly girl too. She was coughing and sneezing all week but wouldn't come out of the pen yesterday just stood looking very poorly. So she has had lots of TLC chopped grapes. strawberries. mealy worms. porridge and everything else I could think of to tempt her to eat. In the end she wanted pellets. She demolished half a pot full then had the grapes. She isn't coughing as much but I think she may be laying internally as well as she has started to waddle. Her legs seem to be far apart too.0

How's your poorly girl skipton?
I've just given my girls warm oats with yoghurt and chopped grapes mixed in. Had a very high CF (cluck factor). Jemima tried very hard to be in two places at once - I put two containers down. She probably got more than her fair share of grapes but everyone else, even poor Doris (who is at the bottom of the pecking order) got her fill of the rest.:D:D:DIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Hope the poorly girls are feeling better soon
Sorry to read of more losses
I've just been round to give my girls some grapes. I have the knack of making them wait their turn for them which is both cute and funny to watch :rotfl:
Two days ago I noticed my bully hen with what I thought initially was an egg stuck in herturns out that it was a bald patch - she's starting to moult  it's only that bit round her bum though. Yesterday I noticed a bald spot on one of the others heads, which has doubled in size today so I guess she's starting the moult too

Poorly hen Cara not wheezing as much now and her comb is much brighter but she will have to have an epsom salt bath tomorrow. Her tummy is quite firm, legs still far apart and she has a dirty bum! She'll either love it and relax or hate it and we all get wet as she struggles to get out.0

How is Cara today skipton? Is she any better and how did the Epsom Salt bath go today?
Be careful and keep an eye on all your others for the wheezing as it can be so contagious if they have a cold.
Hope she is ok today, bless her (((((HUGS)))))

I would love to see that. No hope of that with my lot cos they would bite my hand off for grapes. How have you managed that? Any tips for me.

My secret weapon is my leg :rotfl:
It doesn't touch them in any way at all, but it does create a barrier so the greedy ones can't do their greedy bit. After a couple of goes, they all just wait for theirs until their turn, without the legI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Surprisingly we are still getting between 5 and 6 eggs a day. Maybe it is because of the mild weather we are having in the south.
I have a 5 years old Speckled hen that goes broody every year and won't eat anything around that time. I think this has aged her little body because she has really slowed down this winter. I bring her indoors for a couple of hours every other day which makes her eat and then is more active the following day. I have just been watching her and she is foraging on my flower bed so good job I threw some corn in there for her. Otherwise she just sits outside huddled up looking cold, bless her.
How is everyone else? Dizzy are you managing ok? Anyone had a winter drop in eggs yet. This weather is so weird this year we even have little buds on out Honeysuckle.
