Hi everyone
Thank you so much Maddie for trying to help me tonight. I so wanted to get my pic on here of Biscuit as it is my last one of hers. I'll try again over the coming days.
I am sad to say that we bought Biscuit indoors with us last Sunday as she didn't seem herself. She was lovely and cosy and warm which I will never forget. She passed away last Tuesday. She was remarkable at 6yrs and 8mths which is incredibly rare for an ex-caged hen. I adored her so much but knew that this time would come for her. I'm pleased she was indoors with us and not outside in the cold on her own.
I'll certainly forever miss you Biscuit 😘 ❤
I've quoted this myself so it would land at the top of this new page x
Thank you to everyone who followed me, my hens, ducks, Bertie cockerel, Pingu & little Biscuit on their retirement adventure with us here in sunny Hertfordshire.
It's been a great experience for Mr Edwink and me. We've loved every bit of it and know we did everything we could for the ducks and hens over the years with not too many vet visits thankfully. It's been 14 years and I've totaled to 71 hens, 9 ducks, and our mate Bertie Cockerel. So we reached 81 feathered friends in the end 🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓
What a wonderful time we've all had and we are very grateful to those of you who have encouraged us and posted on my ducks and hens thread since I started it on 7th July 2015.
A special thank you to Mr & Mrs Cheery for their encouragement and offer of treats for my hens. Like us they also took the plunge with hen keeping and posted on the thread about the highs and lows of feathered friends keeping 😘😘😘😘😘
Thank You to maddiemay who posted some lovely heartwarming posts that encouraged us to keep going despite the setbacks we endured along our 14-year journey 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you sammyjammy another poster who often posted and joined in so also encouraged us to keep the thread running 😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you to all of you who posted this past 9 and a half years on our lovely thread ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's been great fun! And, would we do it all again? YES, YES, YES of course we would. What an eye-opening experience. Harder than we thought it would be mentally and sad at times but I wouldn't have changed anything along the way. We had masses and masses of happy times with them all and those times outweighed everything else especially the awful fox attack we had.
We've been very sad this week because we've lost little Biscuit 😢 and because we've come to the end of our feathered friends keeping for a while but this week Mr Edwink & I have been reminiscing and remembering all the really hilarious 😂 times we've had along the way. So it's been an up-and-down mixed bag for us here 🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔
So this just leaves me to share the funniest thing ever that happened here with the ducks and hens. We'd nipped out once and came home and like always went straight round the back to make sure they were all behaving themselves only to be faced with an Indian Runner duck sat up to her chest in a bucket of rainwater despite us having a 10ft wide pond for them to swim and wash in. Mr Edwink lifted her carefully out as she was so heavy because she was soaked through to the skin, bless her. So we literately had to wring her out & stroke her down with our hands to get as much water off her as we could and finally wrapped her in several towels for a while. Bless her it was hilarious though and of course, no harm came to her but the question remains and probably forever will of how she managed to actually get into that bucket in the first place. Normally even in a heavy downpour ducks don't get wet because water really does run off a duck's back 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆
Lots of love ❤

Oh edwink, we are so very sorry to hear about little biscuit xxx I'm so glad that she was inside in the warm with you. She had such a great life with you, what a cheerful little beaky pal she was. We will rise a glass to her tomorrow. Thinking of you all xxx1

She certainly was a beaky pal that's for sure.
I always hoped I'd know when it was time to bring her indoors. And, luckily I did. I've got a wonderful pic of her sitting in her indoor box which we'd lined to make her comfy. She just sat there with me sitting on the floor next to her for ages and occasionally nodding off, bless her.
Maybe you could help with advice to get the last pic of her on here that I took on the Sunday. maddiemay has be helping me as you may have already seen on the previous page on this thread. It's so annoying because I can't download it on to my laptop from my phone so I'll have to put it on here via my phone but although I followed maddiemays instructions I still couldn't get it on here.

Aw, I'd love to see a picture 🥰 Let's see if I can help.
When I post on my phone, above the box I'm writing in, there are several symbols - a B (for bold font), an I (for italic font) etc. At the end of the list is a rectangular box with an outline of a mountain and sun. Like this:
If you click on it, it should give you the option to choose a file, like this:
If you click on Choose files, it should show you the file on your phone, and you can select one. It takes a few seconds to load - there's a progress bar at the top of your post...
Can you see it there in blue, under the Bold and Italics symbols?
Don't try to edit or press anything else at this point, because it will insert the picture where the cursor is, even if that's in the middle of your text. Just wait and your picture should appear! 😊
Yours may not look exactly the same if your phone is different, but hopefully that will help you figure it out!1 -
Hmm, I've just read MaddieMay's instructions and they're basically the same as mine so mine may not help! You said when you click Choose Files you can't see anything? This is what my phone shows me:
(That mountain symbol is just because I've been taking pictures of that to post here - my other recent photos are of Mr Cheery when were out last night so I can't post those 😂)
Do you have a Browse option? That should show you all the folders on your phone - your pictures will probably be in something like a gallery?
If you're still struggling, drop me a message and we'll see if we can sort out a way for me to post it x1 -

Thank you so much with trying to help me with the pic of Biscuit.
I'll PM you when I've sent this.
Thank you

Here's your picture of lovely Biscuit, edwink 🥰🥰 Look how cosy she is. You gave her such a good life. I'll think of her up there with Rusty, Bessie, and the rest of our beaky pals, and yours, in the Great Dust Bath in the Sky.

I can't thank you enough Cheery for posting Biscuits pic on here for me. As you say the issue could be with my mobile phone perhaps. I remember trying sometime ago and couldn't work out how to do it then. The last picture I actually put on here I took with my tablet and got that on here ok and it's an old tablet and that worked. Oh well I'll just have to accept that my phone is useless for posting pics on the forum.
I cant believe how healthy she looks in the pic and it was only 2 days before she went for her big sleep.

Ahh Edwink that is so lovely, you and Mr E gave her a wonderful amazingly long life.
Thank you @Cheery_Daff for facilitating the photo so we can share it too.

What a lovely photo of Biscuit. I'm so sorry to hear that she is now living it up in the Great Dust Bath.
They become such a big part of our lives don't they? With their individual personalities. You gave her such a great life.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2001
