Another 7 yesterday and they were ankle deep in snow all day. Must be the amount they are eating just keeps the eggs coming.
Snap we also got 7 (for a change).

We are on a roll!! 7 eggs again today and 2 yesterday.
The wind calmed down here for a few days which was nicer for our hens but it is back again Grrr!!. Although it is quite mild for December the wind makes it a bit chilly.
How is everyone else doing with eggs and the weather.
Where are you Betterdays? I do miss you being on the thread.

I had 5 eggs today( a blue one from one of my toffs who hasn't laid since August) She laid a soft shelled one yesterday too but that broke in the nest!
What I love about my girls most is their ability to make me smile no matter how rubbish my day has been or how down or grumpy I may be feeling. I know it's cupboard love when they run towards the gate to meet me but it does make me feel special.0 -
My poor girls! The river that wraps around our property and land burst it's banks on Monday evening and we've been badly flooded. Luckily all insured but it has been absolute hell here since.
DH had to wade through thigh high water to rescue our hens who then had to spend the next two days on the top of their house and on makeshift land (pallets) until the pumps got rid of the water. To top it all, my boy puppy ran amok in all the chaos and mauled Hettie. I actually thought he'd killed herbut after a couple of hours wrapped in a towel and snuggled and warmed up, she decided to get up and flap mud all over my bathroom upstairs (downstairs was 2 feet under water) and promptly lay an egg in the towel.
The other girls were still laying eggs through the slats in the pallets, bless them, but the poor things have only just been able to get back under cover. I had to completely muck out the house and get rid of all the silt and s*** that had washed in and put down dry straw and new food and the run is still partially under water. I hate this weather
Edited to add: Hettie is currently in a box by my bed, wrapped in my dressing gown as DH found her outside the chicken run on her own looking unwellHer feathers have been plucked out near the base of her tail. The dogs are not in anyone's good books. I hope she is still with us in the morning. I feel awful.

That's dreadful news Dizzy. Do you have alot of damage to your own house too? Has the river gone down now? Where abouts are you?
I do hope Hettie pulls through and can rejoin the flock.0 -
Sorry to hear you've got so much on dizzy, I hope hettie is doing ok now and able to rejoin the othersI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Oh, Dizzy, that's a lot to cope with in one go!
It's been an awful lot of water here as well, what is left of my garden is a bog where only the ducks are having fun. Sinking up to the ankle in mud with each step...nothing like your ordeal though!
I hope Hettie is going to recover from the shock and didn't get injured internallyFirst they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Hi Dizzy
What an awful time for you and your family to be going through. Poor little Hettie too I do hope she is ok and survives through the night. It's always a worrying time if one of your hens gets injured. They are tough little things even though she has lost feathers in the unfortunate incident with your dog. Sometimes the shock though can be very hard on them. Sending Hettie and you all big hugs.
Our weather here is not good and my poor hens are getting blown about everywhere. But, nothing like you are going through Dizzy.
I think the British weather has gone crazy if I am honest. We never had weather extremes one after the other when I was younger.
Hope everyone is keeping warm.
Please let us all know how you are getting on Dizzy. Will be thinking of you.
