JSA when training or are you forced to accept unpaid training?

I applied for a job off Universal Jobmatch. I got a call back saying they want me to do 1 week 9-5 of unpaid training, but I get a "guranteed interview", though not a guaranteed job.
As they know I'm claiming, the first question they asked me.
Am I allowed to refuse full time unpaid training not ordered by the Jobcentre that may not necessarily lead to a job and hinder my ability to look for one in the meantime?

Hopefully someone will come along with the legislation for this.
Is there any particular reason you don't want to take advantage of this offer?0 -

I'm sorry, so when you are offered to give away 40 hours of your life / labour away for free without even reimbursement costs to gain an interview, not actually a job and be left with no money for the week, you'd not blink twice and think that this is a good deal?
Sarcasm aside, if I am not compelled by law/legislation to do this, then I need to give no further reasons. I have already checked my Claimant Agreement, it does not say anything like this, and from it's wording, I believe I'm not compelled to accept this.0 -
What else are you planning to do with those 40 hours of your life?
Can you give us further details of the training - it does sound odd but it's not possible to give further advice without more information.0 -
If that's allowed, I'm off to UJ to advertise for a gardener, decorator, cleaner .....0

Once again, why should that matter.
If prima facie one is not so compelled, then that alone would suffice.0 -

The OP isn't being asked to do a job unpaid, he has been asked to do some training - which may or may not be helpful in him securing employment. Whether there is any value to this training we don't know, because the OP seems more focused on how to keep his benefits than exploring opportunities to help himself.0 -

Is this the job? If so it has already been suggested to you that this is not a legitimate opportunity.0 -

No that is not it. I took people's advice and decided not to go for it.
Also, may I point out that this is not an offer of employment, it is an offer of full time unpaid training. An offer of interview should not be simultaneously in conjuction with full time unpaid training, that fact alone would suggest at the present moment in time, I do not have the skills required to do such a job and did I know so, would not have saw fit to apply to such an ad. As I do not have those skills, that job and it's kind could not be in my claimant agreement.
It is somewhat false advertising to advertise for jobs but make no mention of compulsory training.0 -

But, if you do this training, you will have the skills and this will open up opportunities for you.
Most people would consider this a good thing, so I'm puzzled why you don't.0 -
Is the training something that will benefit you gain other jobs? Like a Hygiene certificate or something for working in catering?
Is the potential employer covering expenses, including travel and lunch?
If these two were a yes, I'd go for it. If either is a no I'd stay away. Sorry I can't answer the question about whether you are compelled to attend.0
