i cannot find a suitable mattress for my oh.
over past few years i have bought
memory foam
pocket spring with natural fillings
pocket spring with memory foam
foam
nothing is suitable for him, he still complains he can never get comfortable and has backache.
the pocket spring with natural fillings was the most expensive, and i thought that would be the one for him , but no even that was not good enough.
this was a very heavy and fantastic mattress , but unfortunately like the others i had to get rid of it
i am now looking at latex, but they are very expensive and i dont know if he will be happy with that either
i have seen the eve mattress online as well , which comes with a 100 day trial.
any ideas/info about this one would be appreciated.
thanks for looking and any advice would be most welcome
as i am at my wits end.

If he's making all the fuss, why not let him do some of the legwork and sort out what he wants?
You might also look at the base of your bed - that can have just as much impact on comfort/backache as the mattress itself. Time he did some research!0 -
i will look at waterbeds, never thought of that one.
if i send him shopping , he will go to the nearest bed shop , find the most expensive one and just buy it and come homeNice to save.0 -
Maybe a large piece of cloth-covered cardboard can help u(it made me feel better when I suffered from a pain in my neck.) HTH.Men talk of killing time, while time quietly kills them.

It might be that his backache isn't caused by the mattress - he could have issues caused by poor posture sat at a desk at work for example. It's best to try to find out the cause if you can, it'll be easier to fix. As for your mattress problem have you considered going to stores and trying them out?
It would be way easier to advise him rather than you but I'll ask some Qs and maybe you can speak to him.
Is he a heavy/light person?
Are you heavy/light?
What sized bed are you on?
What base type are you sleeping on?
Does he sleep on his front, back or side?
Where on his back does it hurt?
If you can answer those I may be able to give you some advice

Also consider a matress topper. I bought this pure wool one , and would recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of comfort

Definitely good advice to put some work into finding out what is causing the back pain.., but also, sounds like some increased fitness and weight loss might help a lot. It sounds like his muscles will be quite stressed due to excess at the front. Hard to improve posture if the body is unbalanced to start with.0

back pain is usually present on waking up , so we assume its caused by mattress.
he suffers from arthritis in knees , has had one knee replacement, and due to being asthmatic , his exercise is limited , however, he does try to do some and does walk instead of taking the car , when he canNice to save.0 -
You may save some money by spending some money on some physio. They will be able to pin point the area of pain- it may not be just down to the mattress.
It may be that as he relaxes in the night, the sore area is exposed.
I had a knee issue- went to the NHS and was just given some exercises. After a lot of pain and weeks of no improvement, I tried a private physio that someone had recommended. She spent 40 mins doing diagnostics and manipulation. It hurt!
I am not exaggerating when I say I hobbled in and walked out. It isn't fixed yet but a massive improvement. She was able to pin point the actual injury and provide help, exercises and even strapped it up for me, showing me how to repeat the strapping at home.
She also showed me how to sleep! My knee needed support at night, so she showed me what to do with it at night.
It may be helpful to get someone to pinpoint the issue with his back, then you can take that information and use it to help when buying a mattress.0
