I get the gist. In that case, perhaps we can consider ourselves fortunate that YB/CB honoured their switching offer loophole.

I wonder if they'd pay the RAF incentive if someone else recommends a customer that has already been recommended.
Nationwide said in their response to StarM that it is their policy not to pay the RAF incentive if you recommend the same person again.
But I wonder whether they would still pay if someone else recommends that person.0 -
I am already with NW and have got a friend of mine to refer me as a friend as the account I hold with them is not my main account. Once my friend has received confirmation I will instigate the switch to my present NW account.0

- This offer may not be used in conjunction with any of our other current account cash reward offers.

So can this Refer a Friend not be used in conjunction with TCB £78.750

I got this reply from Nationwide via secure messaging, which suggests that one would only get one £100 incentive for opening and correctly switching (corrected -thanks Ed-1) a new account, irrespective of the number of new accounts opened, and that only one referrer (the first one) would get £100, irrespective of how many friends had referred one, and irrespective of the number of new accounts switched

With regards to the refer a friend scheme, Unfortunately you will only receive 1 payment of £100.00 I have contacted our banking team regarding this who have confirmed that the scheme is designed for switches of a main current account into Nationwide. Under this rule, you can only be referred once by a friend for a switch into Nationwide. I appreciate that the terms are unclear and I have fed this back for you.
The friends who have referred you for the additional switches will not receive the £100.00 as you have already been recommended to Nationwide.
I have contacted the specialist team requesting confirmation on which friend will receive the £100.00 and this will be who recommended you for the first switch.
"""
But I suspect that one would get different answers depending on the staff with which one discussed the matter!
Adding to the confusion is that one cannot speak directly to the team that deals with the refer-a-friend scheme
This is not the answer that I as someone who benefited from 15 account incentives with Yorks Bank wanted to hear!!0 -

It's not opening a new account that qualifies you, it is switching to a Nationwide account with 2 direct debits, which can be an existing Nationwide account. With regards to the refer a friend scheme, Unfortunately you will only receive 1 payment of £100.00 I have contacted our banking team regarding this who have confirmed that the scheme is designed for switches of a main current account into Nationwide. This has been my experience when the offer was £50 each. I think that the £100 each version would be treated as the same offer so if you've previously been referred under the £50 each offer they wouldn't pay out again under this one but I wonder what they'd do if the first person recommended you before 1st July (and you haven't yet switched) and then another recommended you after 1st July but before 31st July and you then switch. Would they pay £50 each or £100 each? The terms are completely useless as they don't cover any of this.0
