Adults slagging off kids?

OP why dont you contact the girls parents surely they should be sorting this out rather than you taking offence on someone elses behalf, or just go into school and see if they can sort this out, whatever has been said on fb can be construde as cyber bullying.0

Exactly.
Totally disregarding the fact that the OP has no right to ask for opinions only from a certain group, people who don't use social media often have a more balanced view than people who post stuff like they've just had a cup of tea or other trite drivel or 'like' everything that anybody posts.
I'm sick of hearing people - teens and adults - on the bus or in the pub complaining that somebody's slagged them off or blocked them on facebook.
On the subject of the first post - if I were on facebook - I would not start or join in any 'slagging off' of a minor.
I doubt very much that I'd 'friend' any kids other than family.
I think balletshoes has a very good point in post #9 about getting the school involved.
I think the OP was being tongue in cheek when she said only people with social media need apply.
However, I agree with the posters who say get the school involved.
I have several nieces who have had issues with kids from school berating them on facebook, and they got the school involved, and the kids in question got into trouble. The school should help deal with these bullies.
A friend of one of my nieces had a FB page made about her (by 3 nasty bullies who were making her life a misery,) that was mocking and berating her, and they posted very unkind things. In addition, 2 of the 3 mothers joined in too. And several of their buddies occasionally chimed in with 'LOL ur so funneh!'Grown women in their 30s (and even 40s!) acting like 12 year olds.
Some of the things they said were so nasty, and some people were so stunned that they had made this 'hate-page,' that about half a dozen people (a mixture of other teens from the school, and adults,) posted 'you have gone too far this time,' and 'making a hate page about a 13 year old girl on the world wide web for everyone to see, with pics of her, and nasty vitriolic comments is totally out of order: you should be ashamed!'
This girl's mother screen-dumped everything in case they deleted it, and reported them to the police (especially as they had been bullying her for a year, and the school had done nothing about it.) When the police came to the school about their pupils behaviour, they sat up and took notice then!! Then the children in question got an official warning from the police, and then got suspended for 2 weeks. That is now on their official school record: a police warning and a school suspension for bullying...
Cyber bullying is utterly unacceptable. It is even worse when it's adults. And IMO the type that do this, and the type who have arguments with each other on facebook, and air their dirty laundry on there, are the same; and these are the type that appear on Jeremy Kyle. I say mom, and write mom, and I am not American, I just prefer it. And frankly, I couldn't care less what anyone thinks or says. I will say it how I want to.
Moreover, MUM is a flippin' underarm deodorant!cooeeeeeeeee :j :wave:0 -

Also sometimes some people forget to have due regard for other peoples privacy when psoting on internet sites. I remember a secondary school teacher friend of mine, who chooses not to have any social networking sites, was very annoyed when one of her teenage students, said "you look good in a bikini, Miss". When she asked why the student had said this, it turned out, they had friends in common and the friend had posted a picture of my friend on holidays in her bikini. She had to contact her friend to ask her to remove the pictures as she did not want to have her holday photos shared with people she did not know on an internet site.0

I think 'Mum' as a word for 'Mother' was in use waaaay before somebody named a deodorant.
Whoooosh........... THAT is why I put the stick-out-tongue smiley. #doh
Looks like that went over your head, just like the OP's comments where she said 'only people with social media need apply.' She was obviously joking too.
Sense of humour by-pass alert! :cool:cooeeeeeeeee :j :wave:0 -

In fact she posted this in response to my comment:I asked for people who use social media to reply as I thought that they may have experienced something similar in relation to their children.
However, I take your point and am more than happy for any to voice their opinions on this subject.
