Adults slagging off kids?

My dd went abroad with the School last week and had a brilliant time.

However, within 8 hours of getting back there were messages on Faceache slagging off a particular girl. Now this girl isn't one of the 'In-Crowd', (neither is my dd) , and I know that Teenagers !!!!!, and it's all part of growing-up....

BUT-this was the mother of one of the girls who went on the trip and I found this most upsetting.....actually, no, I was REALLY angry and wanted to tear a right strip off the mom.

Now I know I can be abrasive on here, but we are all 'Grown-Up's'....and so on.

So my questions are-

Would you 'friend' your kids mates

Would you join in with the slagging off

I have a couple of family members on Facebook, purely because they're family members and not because we're close buddies.

One or two of them have an issue with a kid in one of their daughter's year groups and bang on about it constantly (to the point I unchecked the 'Following' marker).

Honestly, it just made me think they had some unresolved issues from when they were at school that they should probably seek counseling for.
  • Urgh, faceache is a good name for it.

I'd accept the world is full of idiots and their stupidity is magnified on something like facebook. If it were me I would unfriend and just get on with my life.

I wouldn't slag off my children publically, nor would I accept their mates as friends on facebook, would you be happy with other parents being friends with you son/daughter?

Really:eek: So the girl is in bits, the adult is :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: , so I should just mind my own business even though my own dd is really upset on this girls behalf?

Reassure DD that Faceache is not a place where the truth appears to prosper.
That her friend may be able to ignore it, due to more practice.

in short, that Facebook friends and real humans are two very different things, and even nice people 'distort' (to be both polite & generous) on Fb?

the girl should block anyone on facebook who is having a pop at her - and if the remarks are personal and on fellow school pupils' feed/timelines, she might want to get school involved. I know my daughter's school takes social-media bullying seriously.

Tell me about it. I once had the mother of a girl at my door complaining about something my son had done. My son was in the wrong, I made him apologise and punished him. The woman was present when he said sorry and when I said what his punishment was.

She was later on facebook saying that certain kids were horrible and that what she'd like to do is put them in a van and drive them somewhere miles away and leave them there. I messaged her asking her to remove the remark as I thought it inappropriate, and pointed out DS had apologised and been punished, she then had a go at me and another rant on facebook.

I then blocked her. About 12 months ago she sent me a friend request using her business name instead. :rotfl: That also got blocked. ;)
