Yep ages ago - didn't effect me at all personally a business go bust happens every day. Nothing untoward and it was a totally separate legal entity.
If anyone has any experience on my initial post rather than pointless "drip drip" posts I would much appreciate it.0 -
themadhouse, You said large sum was paid in - how much was it?
My mother had similar experience with Lloyds. They didn't put any CIFAS - This was confirmed via SAR to CIFAS. My feeling is they have placed some kind of marker possible through Synectics which automatically refers applications made and then bank asked for ID.
Some banks may just decline and application rather than asking for ID. It happened with my mum's Santander application. It was referred then declined. She appealed against it in writing and received a letter from Santander saying application was initually accepted but then they cannot confirm some of the details so she will need to passport to the branch.
Similar think happened with Co-OP.
All happened after Lloyds account closure.
The indicator remained for 12 months after that it disappears. I am saying that because my mum was accepted for bank accounts and credit cards without any problems and no ID was requested.0 -
Star - thank you so much for your post, it was most useful to read and seems to be identical to what I have received.
In answer to your question I received £25,000. I sold a vehicle and put £4000 (ish) cash in the account too and finally my other half paid £7,000 to go halves on a new vehicle we wanted to purchase. This was it.
So far.....
Nationwide - accepted cards issued then closed it down.
HSBC - straight decline.
Co-op - normal current account straight decline. A basic account application has been posted.
Natwest - going through at the moment asked for ID (as above). Near completion for basic account as processing as it should but I am unsure as you mentioned, its with referrals!
Santander - going though at the moment I had a 4 year car loan and paid it all back no problems for a high amount, I hope they have this on file still will it help?
Its really getting me down...... the other half has requested to open an account for me as a back up but I wanted to build up my credit file which wasn't as bad as I thought.0 -

Best not to apply for to many accounts - Allot of searches will mean automatic decline.
Write to Nationwide and appeal against there decision. Include copy of your passport and proof of address. Say original can be provided in branch if required.
Wait an update from Natwest application.
Previous Santander relationship will help. It is possible then decline the apply but if they do appeal against it. They might ask visit to the branch with Passport.
If you are accepted for any of the two don't apply for anything else for 12 months.
If you had a CIFAS bank wouldn't have requested ID. It would have been declined. So I am sure it is some type of marker which is asking the bank to conform ID.
By all means you can send SAR request to CIFAS to confirm that.

It sounds like you might have a cat 06 CIFAS marker.
I'm 99% sure this won't appear on the credit report you see.
You may need to send a SAR to CIFASThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Yes a bank might request ID even with a CIFAS marker, can't speak for all banks but where I work our ID and fraud checks are somewhat separate.
You can't auto decline for fraud so it might have got through all the initial checks from a credit perspective but required ID for whatever reason then a manual intervention will be done if it has referred on a fraud code. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Having read the forums here on several matters I have finally summoned up the courage to join :-)
On 25th June 2015 I had my accounts closed by Lloyds and a letter was sent out the same date. They said it was suspected fraud and the accounts would be open for two months but a block on all transactions would be made. I found out after my debit card was swallowed up at a cash machine. I was told information would NOT be passed on to any third parties.
I read about the fraud report on credit files so I ordered one just to be safe dated 27th June 2015. No markers against me.
I do have bad credit from years ago, I want to address this ASAP but need to get a bank account to start this and I really want to go with a main bank
I have applied to Natwest, they stated that all that was needed was ID then the application would go through and checking the system there were no issues. Today they say its with referrals....great. I only asked for a basic account.
Nationwide opened a basic account issued card etc but then after further checks closed the account because 'I failed to disclose something on my credit file'??? Huh???
I have also applied to the CO-OP today by post.
If anyone can give me any pointers that would be great as I APPEAR not to have had a marker on my report and its been several years since I had any issues on my report?
Was this the letter you received?0 -
Yes that is the exact letter!0

A 60 day closure letter is standard from APAF, it is where they suspect fraud. Most banks will use a similar template. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

themadhouse - Req a SAR with CIFAS - It will only cost £10. If it is cat 6 CIFAS then you stuck with it for 6 years.0
