Thank you for all your replies.
Funny you should say that about not letting the copy out of your sight at the bank Biggles. She had to take it away to photocopy it and gave it back to me in the original envelope afterwards. Later on that night there was a knock at my door and I opened it to see the young lady standing there very sheepishly holding the last page of the documents in her hand. She had left a page on the photocopying machine and had discovered it later that day when she had gone to copy some more documents lol!0 -
You were lucky there! Nice to hear she sorted it without you needing to do anything.0

Sorry folks, another question..
Can anyone tell me if each page of the LPA on a certified copy needs to be signed and stamped by a solicitor, or just the first page?0 -
Each page needs to be certified.0

Great news! Santander have changed their rules on issuing a debit card to attorneys with a LPA. I will be able to get a card after all
What a joke! I got a letter from Santander today stating that they do not allow debit cards on this type of account. So one person telling me one thing, and someone else telling me another. Rang them up and told them I would just be transferring the whole account over to another bank who CAN offer this facility. They won't be happy, he has a LOT of money in his current account and also a sizeable amount in a separate savings account. I'm really angry about this, the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right is doing with this excuse for a bank.0 -
Hang on a mo - is it a 123? Why not leave in £20,000 and two DDs and open a new account to receive the rest?
You have internet access to the Santander account so can readily move money around?0 -
Yes, it's a 123. How is that going to help me get a debit card though?0

The point I was making was that the 123 has valuable benefits and you do have internet access to it.
If you cannot get a debit card, then open a debit card bearing account for your uncle as his PA and switch money between the two as required?0
