Getting correct links now just pasting those in the reply box and clicking submit. So that is better.

I've just tried 3 different links in the Fracking thread and none of them are working, all take me back to Bbc news.

Some links are now working but not all and clicking on links used to open the page in a new tab automatically. Now it doesn't. Also, hitting the back button used to take you back to the post in the thread you were last viewing. Now it doesn't, it just takes you back to the start of the thread. Someone has broken the site :(

Best to report any specific links that don't work. Anti-spam rules often require tweaking to get high hit rates without side effects.

    I don't think so.
This seems to be a wider problem, not one related to 'specific links'.

Agreed. For example, not unduly affecting normal users who occasionally post a bit of text that looks (to software ;)) like a bit of spam. But that shouldn't have involved the type of effect being described here.
This seems to be more a case of poor software implementation/documentation and/or poor technical skills - possibly exacerbated by some sort of time pressure, such as "I want a fix, and I want it NOW!" ...

yes, got that problem too. In Firefox, clicking on a link always used to open a new window but since yesterday it doesn't, which is infuriating. Can it be put back to how it was ASAP please?

Not all links don't work and to fix rules requires knowing which ones the rules are catching but shouldn't be catching.

There's also the open in new window issue, which is likely to apply to all combinations of a specific browser and all links opened in that browser with whatever specific combination of link-opening settings are used.

For me with my particular Firefox version the link opening is working just as I expect. A click on the link opens it in the same window, right click and open in new window or tab does that. I don't have my browser set to open all links in a new tab or window. Hopefully the site wasn't overriding the browser user chooses behaviour before and the issue is just that somehow it's now blocking that browser-specified way of opening.
  • Hi everyone,

Regarding links, anything that was posted yesterday before the fix was put in place won't currently work, however, if you hit edit + save on your post, the links will start working.

I've let the guys know about the links not opening in new pages.

    Hope this helps
