    6. Has anyone ever stayed at the self catering Davey Crockett resort ? How would you rate it in terms of value for money and entertainment/things to do at the resort.

We always stay at DCR as we like the self catering aspect. What we also like about it is that there is a quiet, tranquil element, which I don't think you could get so much in a hotel. The pool is great (rainforest type theme) and the shop (Alamo Trading Post) has a very quaint feel to it, but only buy souvenirs there as food is greatly overpriced. Either take as much as possible with you or visit a supermarket for food.

No experience of the restaurant but I believe you can get take out pizza in the saloon, although not done this as it was new last time we went and I always take pizza with us to microwave whilst there (no oven, just a hob).

They do pony rides and there is a small farm. More activities are available in summer I think, but we we always go when it's less busy, so no experience of a summer stay.

I wouldn't pay extra for Premium Plus accommodation again as the only extras are a Nespresso machine, bathrobes, hairdryer and you are closer to the pool, shop and restaurant. A Premium cabin is exactly the same but without the above and I think the two bedroomed cabins are a bit tired now, so go for a Premium cabin if you do stay here.

It is fairly pricey and probably not for everyone, but we don't go into the parks until after lunch as our boys like to use the pool after breakfast. Walking around the 'ranch' is wonderfully peaceful in such contrast to the parks, so there are two sides to our holidays there.

Hope some of this information helps.

    Hi everyone,

I have been taking tips from you guys re our trip to DLP in Aug so thank you all very much! I have read that if we have a character meal at Caf! Mickey, we can just order 2 pizzas to share for my husband and I and our daughter for instance to keep cost down. Do we have to book the character meal in advance or on the day? Do we just book a table for three and then check out the menu once we are there as you would in a normal restaurant? Is it just Mickey we'd meet in Caf! Mickey or any of the others? Do they come round to the table to say hi? Thanks in advance guys!

And also, how do we book the princess pavilion or do we just turn up and queue? How much does this cost? I have looked myself but I keep just getting prices for the princess meal which is over budget. Thanks :)

you should always book a table in advance for Cafe Mickey, its a very popular restaurant at all times of the year. Call the Disney dining reservation service on 0033 160 304050 (use a cheap discount dial number first for France from a UK landline and the call will only cost around 0.5p per minute). There are no extra charges for reserving a table. Yes, pick what you like from the menu once you are there (including ordering pizza to share). You are guaranteed Mickey in his Cafe, plus usually another 4 or 5 characters (sometimes more), a random selection but often Goofy and Pluto are there too. They all come around each table to say Hi, you can get your photo taken with each character at your table, get an autograph etc.

the Princess Pavilion is a free queued meet n greet in Fantasyland in the main park. I believe they are using a timed ticket system, so you need to look at the park programme when you arrive, and pay attention to the times when the cast members will be in Fantasyland handing out tickets for the Princess Pavilion. You may need to queue to get a ticket, but it vastly cuts down the time you'd need to queue in the Pavilion itself. You will only meet one Princess per timed ticket, and you won't know which one until you reach the front of the queue in the Pavilion.

Ballet shoes, i'm going to book Caf! Mickey this week so what time do you think I should book for evening meal so that we don't miss the parade? I have a little one with me so as per one of your old posts, i'm going to find a good viewing spot earlier so that she can see. Thank you

Woah, hang on. Disney princess makeover?! I've been researching DLP for over a year and have missed that this exists!!!

I was going to give the booking line a call to see if they did these during December (DD's birthday is 17th December so we're there for that week) - hoping they would be! - but I noticed your post balletshoes about the cheap way of phoning France? Can you advise?

(Actually, if they DON'T do it in December, I won't feel too bad seeing as I can imagine it'll be quite expensive! lol).

to be honest, as the Magic On Parade is on at 7pm all through the summer months, I'd personally do Cafe Mickey for lunch - that way you're not rushing your meal at 6pm to get back to the park to see the parade, or having to wait until 8pm when the parade is over, before eating.

You could easily spend 2 hours in Cafe Mickey, meeting all the characters, so I'd book a table for lunchtime, get out of the heat and relax over your meal. The characters are at Cafe Mickey each lunchtime between 12noon and just before 3pm, then they come back out just after 6pm for the rest of the evening.

Here is the current park programme - it won't change between now and the end of August -

from a UK landline use a discount dial to France landlines, like -

    0844 200 90 90

before calling the Dining reservation line (0033 160 304050), or Guest Services at DLP (the number is 0033 160 306053). That way the call will only cost you 0.5p per minute.

Yes, the Princess makeover at the DLH is expensive - it starts at around 40 euros for hair and make-up only, then there are packages which include the dress, accessories, souvenir and photo pack - I believe they are over 100 euros .
