big-cuddle wrote: »hi just after a bit of advice please.
hoping to take my kids (2 & 7), myself and hubby.
basically our first thought was to go as cheap as poss but stay in a disney hotel and probably best option eurostar for transport.
so fiddled with dates / amount of days
and the best bet for us seems to be sometime during the 1st two weeks of march
but checked and this is during the french school hols, so basically I'd like people's opinions would this make any difference, or should I pay an extra £250 to go a week or two later? What would you do?
thanks for any advice.
if you can avoid the 4th March for 2 weeks, I would (Parisien school holidays do make a different to the busy-ness of the DLP parks). However, how about the couple of weeks before the beginning of March? Yes, there are other French school regions off then, but if you avoid the UK half term w/c 18th Feb, when the eurostar prices are high, it will be quieter, and you should still get the cheaper hotel prices? or w'c 18th March should be okay too, its a full week before the Easter week holidays begin.0 -
hi thanks balletshoes.
two more questions please!
the only time before first 2 weeks in march I can get if for around the same price is end jan begin of feb, do you think it'll be to cold for the kids to really enjoy? I thought maybe I could get them ski suits so they'd be nice and cosy or does this sound OTT
and do you think the half board or full board option is worth it or are there cheap places close to the outside of the park to eat (probably not I know sorry to ask but really want to make the most of it for the kids without over spending -too much-lol)0 -

Yes, get skisuits for the kids, thermals for yourself, and go at the end of January - its the quietest time of all at DLP and it will feel like you more or less have the parks to yourselves. I know of quite a few folk who go in January/February every year, because although it can be very cold, its so quiet you can do loads in a day.
I don't think any of the dining plans at DLP are worth the money at all, they are too restrictive and they don't include the cheaper options anyway (McDonalds, Earl of Sandwich in the Village etc). The Village is actually part of the DLP resort, and everything is within walking distance, even for little legs.0 -
Hi There,
This thread is great and BalletShoes you really are the font of all knowledge when it comes to all things DLRP !!! Ive been trying to work my way through the thread and make notes etc and Ive already got some great ideas and tips.
We have booked to take our daughter in this october half term :j, a week after her 6th birthday. She is into the disney princesses at the moment and although its a big suprise now, when we arrive I think her eyes are going to pop out of her head !! :rotfl:
Weve booked for 4 nights at the Sequoia lodge hotel, one quick question I have and i know this is going to sound really bizarre - but do the hotel rooms there have tea / coffee making facilities, or even just a kettle we could use. I had a thought that maybe we could take pot noddle type things with us and a couple of times have these for dinner. We have booked up for the lunch with the princesses one day but this would really help with the cost factor.
Many thanks in advance

Am I right in thinking that all bookings on the DLP UK site incur a fee of £16 WHATEVER card you pay with (debit/credit etc)? That's what it's showing for my potential booking.
Is there any way around this?
Thanks in advance.0 -

the only way around the £16 fee is to phone up to book, and then pay by cheque I'm afraid. Because of the booking fee, if you're intending paying in one payment, its better to book and pay online and go through a cashback site so you get your booking fee back that way.0 -

PurpleMunchkin.
At the Sequoia Lodge you can ask for a kettle to be put in your room (ask when you check in). You have to pay for teabags/coffee etc so take your own.
Enjoy your trip.

Just wanted to say thanks again to Balletshoes - you were so helpful!
I still couldnt get the French site to work so just went ahead and booked on the UK one - still a saving so not to sad about it.
We went for the cheapest in the end - Santa Fe, as you say you spend minimal time in the Hotel so it didnt really justify the price of the Disneyland Hotel.
I have booked lunch or dinner with the Characters - do you need to book your time before travelling?
Now just to get a loose itinery of what to do on our trip - at least I have time to plan wjhat to see, but if you have any must sees then please do let me know.
Also, I am Vegan so have to do some research into the food situation...!
Just relieved I have it booked now, thanks again.0 -
Hi everyone!!!
This is such a brilliant thread! Everyone is so helpful and useful!
I have been reading back (over 300 pages over 2 months!!!) and have now decided to take the plunge and ask a question!! I have just had an e mail from dlrp saying 40% off etc etc and I was after a venue for my 30th birthday end of November with my husband and twin 3 year old. Wanted to visit both Euro Disney and Paris so thought this would be ideal!!
Done a quick calc and cheapest is Newport Bay at £390 for 2 nights and Santa Fe for 3 nights is £320.
Our intentions are to drive there via the tunnel as we have done that previously but my main concerns are:
1. Is this the cheapest deal ? ie is the 40% a norm?
2. I have tried the French site and it keeps coming up as errors. Is the offer not the same on the french site? My limited French translates as a similar offer.
3. How far from DLRP is Paris with two 3 year olds?
4. In your experience, is the weather in November too extreme?
5. I note that balletshoes has mentioned on several occasions about booking in 1 adult with 2 children (free) and then requesting extra adult when checking in. If I do this it saves £90. Has anyone ever done this? Don't fancy turning up and hubby not being allowed to stay!!
Many thanks for your help

balletshoes wrote: »yes, that would be fine - it really is only a 10-minute journey into terminal 2 at CDG from DLP. You do have to factor in getting from the train station at DLP to your terminal departure gate, but a 7pm train still gives you 2 hours to do this, check, get through security, and board your plane. I wouldn't leave it much after 7.15pm to get the train though, as security can be slow at CDG.
Thank you for that.
Another quick question do you know if kettles are available in the Cheyenne?0
