    Yes phobia of trains lol

No worries, we all have crazy phobias, I hate flying, which is quite ironic considering OH works for an airline!

There are good buses covering the area too (I haven't used them, but have seen them tootling about and they seemed pretty regular) though from what I'm told they do take a bit of a funny route, which may be why the journey to the park is so long.

Now I've lost the plot I can't remember who was asking about getting from the airport on the shuttle...

  • Hey all, I've had a quick look at the posts but thought it might be easier to post my own ?'s.

We are looking at going to DLRP next February or april (2009) in school hols. The thing is there is quite a few of us going 7 adults and 6 children aged 2-7. I'm thinking that feb half term will be cheaper and quieter than easter - does anyone have any knowledge of this?

We have been talking about this trip for years and as it is for someones birthday they have decided that they want to stay in the resort rather than have to get trains etc. The thing is i'm guessing that the others will just pay out whatever but i'm more into saving money (and them if I can). Can anyone recommend any good hotels for families. I do not mind paying extra as this will be a one-off holiday and we have been saving for a while.

Does anyone know if we would qualify for a group discount? The other snag is that we live in different areas of uk therefore we may need to take different transport to get there - could we still get discount?

Lastly i've had a quick look around and cannot find when we will be able to book for next year. I thought it would be better to book early as there as so many of us and then we will know what it will cost and start saving for spending money.

Any advice gratefully received i have only been for a day when i was 17 (a long time ago) and the park had only just opening so i'm guessing it has changed a lot!!
    Thanks!

  • We are planning a 3 day trip to DLP and are wondering what to do about buying tickets. The family we are travelling with have a son who turns 3 while we are away - on the DLP website it says under 3's need no ticket, but he'll be 2 one day and 3 the next - do they ask for passports and proof of age or anything like that, upon entry to the park?

    i Hannah,

DIY is always cheaper than travel agent so check out the Eurostar website and see if there are any seats on the train and go from there.

We stayed on Sequoia Lodge, kids stay and play free in Disney Hotels at the moment.

keylimepie, kids stay and play free at the moment so if staying in resort you'll get the tickets so better to be honest about the age!!

They do not ask for ID or proof of age or anything so it depends on whether you feel right doing it tbh. i know my kids would give me away if I lied!!

You won't find any 'Princesses' for autographs in DLP.

    Hiya all,
Had to pop in as just back from a wonderful trip to DLP. :j After reading the above post I gently tried to tell my daughter before going that we may not see any princesses. Just for other "worried" Mums I had to post that we saw the princesses in the park and got photos and autographs from Cinderella, Arieal, Belle and Snow white (who was absolutely lovely to my daughter!)

It was an amazing holiday. Our five year old was in heaven! Staying in the DL Hotel was worth every penny as although we got the princesses in the park as well as Jessie (from Toy story) etc, we got all the main characters autographs and wonderful photos of them with our daughter at breakfast time and supper time. At breakfast they were there as you went in and out of the resturant and at supper they came into the resturant (innovations buffet) and played with her. Pinnochio was soooo funny teasing her and flicking her long hair!. Tigger was cuddling my husband (!?!) and Minnie sat at our table and had lovely pictures with us.

It was too cold (despite lovely sunny weather) in my view for kids to wear their dressing up in the park so our daughter wore hers to breakfast each day (and to supper the night we ate in the hotel) but wore her jeans and fleece in the park. Worked perfectly!

We got a cab, more cheaply than the Disney bus in the end from the airport as the bus was full and we were approached whilst we waited for the next one. We then overtook the bus and then some on the way!

It was non stop but so much fun for her - and for us! Better that I had even hoped for. x
