Hi again. I am wondering if it is better to bring cash or use debit/credit cards in DLP. I know some banks probably do not charge as much as others but at the moment, I am not planning to apply for a new card with such banks. I was thinking if I am going to be charged extra fees for each transaction using a debit/credit card at DLP (snacks, meals, drinks, shopping etc), then it might amount to quite a sum. Do you think £100 per day is reasonable for 2 adults and 2 little ones. I do not plan to buy a lot of souvenirs there, just little treats for the kids, nothing expensive. I am thinking that shopping here in the UK before or after doing DLP would work out cheaper. Breakfast is part of the package anyway so that would be one less meal per day.
Does anyone know how much autograph books are at DLP? I have a few Disney journals/notebooks etc here and I was thinking if they would do or are the autograph books worth buying?
Thank you again.0 -
You dont walk straight into the park off the train you have to take your luggage to the top floor, wait in a que to hand your luggage in! This took us half hour would of been quicker going to our hotel! Then after a long day in the park we had to collect our luggage from the luggage area with 2 tired kids which was not fun and wait in a line for half an hour to check in.We found it a lot more hassle than checking in before heading to the park! The only way we recommend it is on the last day to save you going back to the hotel to collect your luggage meaning a bit extra time in the park.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

Hi
A better alternative we found though on the last day was a new character option, the BBQ cook out in frontierland. Basically a fast food restraunt with the characters present, at 26euros pp for a take away fast food meal its not cheap, but we found the portions big so we paid "only" 52 euros for 3, and there was more than enough food to go around. We arrived at 11.30 which is opening time and till after 12 there was only us and a couple of other familys in the place
this meant that all the characters outnumbered the kids and oh god they had a ball, dancing and 100% attention, it was fab. The characters there were Woody, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie and Mickey. I would reccomend this above cafe Mickey.
Oh that sounds like something my 2 year old would LOVE! Do you not need to book for that then?COMP WINS FOR HUBBY & I SINCE SEPTEMBER:2 £50 DOMINOS VOUCHERS, 13 PAIRS OF FOOTBALL TICKETS, MICROSOFT HOME EDTN, 2 PAIRS OF ALTON TOWERS TICKETS, 1 CASE OF PERCY PIGS, 1 PAIR OF LEATHER LADIES GLOVES, 4 COLLECTION 2000 PRODUCTS, PLAYSTATION 3 WITH FIFA 12, 5* HOTEL STAY IN LONDON, SEASON 6 OF SUPERNATURAL DVD, PERFECT PIZZA VOUCHER0 -
We waited 45 minutes for food there! Food was cold and the WORSE food we have ever eaten at DLP. Weve been 6 times since 2008 and so have plenty of experience and Cowboy Cookout was disgusting.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

The park closes at 11pm and its about 11.20 by the time fireworks finish, we got back to the hotel just before midnight we could of gone straight to our room and crashed had we checked in earlier in the day. Instead it was gone 1 before we got into our room then we had to unpack bed things, toiletries etc !
This is the first time we used it on our first day we usually go the hotel abnd check ourselves in and get to the park just before 3 . Id rather loose that hour than have the hassle after a long day when everyones tired.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

yes, I'd say £100 per day is enough if you're not intending splashing out on loads of souvenirs for your party. I take cash and use that as much as possible, if I run short I use my debit card to withdraw enough to last me the rest of my stay (that way I'm only incurring one fee from my bank, and I get the bank exchange rate, which is better than the tourist exchange rate anyway, so it evens itself out). There is another way you can do this though. If you're staying onsite, you can register your debit/credit card with your hotel. You can then use your hotel ID card to charge all your meals and purchases in the resort to the hotel, who in turn will only charge your registered card when you reach around 300 euros spent, so you are only charged a fee from your bank for every 300 euros.

Thank you again.
autograph books start at around 5 euros and go up to 10 if you want the ones where you can insert a photo as well as the autograph. Its fine to take your own though, the characters will sign them. We have a collection of autograph books at home, but we are now into duplicate designs as there isn't really that much choice of design (4 or 5 I think overall).
Hope this helps,0 -
Thank you very much to all who replied, especially iceburn and blue monkey. Sorry I have been so busy that I have not had time till now to post again.
I am thinking of booking Cafe Mickey but I am not sure whether lunch or dinner is better?
ID do dinner and have a lunch at the below places !
Are other reasonably priced fastfood joints like McDonalds and Earl of Sandwich far from the park? Till what time are the fastfood joints open?
Earls and McDonalds are oposite Cafe Mickey in the disney village.

Hi again. I have made a booking for Cafe Mickey on our second night at 8:15pm. Parade starts 7:15pm and I was told this lasts about 30mins. I was thinking the kids would not want to miss the parade so I did not opt for a booking before the parade. I also do not know how fast the food service is and how much time to stay at Cafe Mickey, the kids would love seeing the characters. So I thought after the parade is better???
Then I also booked lunch at Cafe Mickey on our third and final day, 12noon booking, and ordered the birthday cake (belated birthday cake, actually). I thought if we ordered from the menu like pizza, drinks, maybe pasta too or a starter or a dessert, twice at Cafe Mickeys would not cost too much? Our 2 little ones do not eat that much, esp our toddler who might just pick on food. I might just order chips/french fries for them as extra? I do not think I can afford the other character meals this time around.
I hope I am planning this right. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you very much.0 -
that sounds fine hersheys - you will probably mostly see the same characters on your lunch that you did the evening before at dinner at Cafe Mickey, but if you know thats where your family enjoy eating, then I don't see anything wrong with it
