Ah, I am so pleased that you are letting your wife carry on her enjoyment without being a miserable so-and so if you are not looking forward to it.

    In answer to your questions:
    1) YES. If you like anything Disney, if you hate the whole 'fake' thing then you might not, but even my miserable so and so of a husband enjoys himself when we go. You may surprise yourself, therre is as much to do for the little ones as well as the big ones. Mine have been going since 1 1/2.

    2) All you really do is sleep there - do you want to pay all tha tmoney just to sleep. For us it would not be worth it.

    3) It depends on what you like to eat, some of the restaurants have been closed when I've been during 'Xmas' time. Ive never seen Toad Hall open for some reason, likewise the Hakuna Matata and we also eat in those when we go to Florida. Take them to The Rainforest Cafe (book a table first) if you have the money. Well worth it for the looks on the kids faces.

    4) For the big restaurants and buffets, yes. Do it when you arrive else you'll not get in, you can look at the restaurants on the website and google the menu's, you'll find what they serve.

    6) I have heard so but we are not drinkers. There is no supermarkets on the DLP site, it'll have to come from the hotel bar or bring your own.

Lots. Have a look at this site here: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=77 you might find lots more tips, we could be here all day but we do not know what you are exactly looking for.

Have a great time. You will I am sure!

PS. I read this and did laugh at the tips after the rant that has been going on in the last few days: http://www.themeparkinsider.com/reviews/disneyland_paris/

    Dear Fellow MSE DLPers,

Okay let me be honest with you..... I am going to DLP with my Wife and 2 kids (4,2 - too young?) and my brother and his wife and kids (8,5). I am going with much resistance as I may be too old for DLP and my kids may be too young. My wife is very excited about this (she has always wanted to go) so I am not saying a word!

We are going second week in December and staying at the Newport Bay club on the meals for free option. Can I ask some quick fire questions to the seasoned few on here?

    1) Could I be pleasantly surprised and end up enjoying myself?

    2) Is it worth upgrading to admirals suite?

    3) Can you recommend restaurants for the above age groups (4 adults, 8,5,4,2 kids)?

    4) Do I need to make reservations for the meals?

    5) My brother and I may want to have a couple of beers after a hard days work. Are the beers in the hotel prohibitively expensive? Is there another option? (which doesn't involve a supermarket)

    6) Any other insider tips and tricks?

Thanks to all of you in advance. Bad news for all those trying to reclaim bank charges today. Merry Christmas to all of you!

    Hi there,

We've been 11 times in the past 10yrs, so i hope i can help you...

    1) You'll end up just going with the flow - its Disney, you cannot fail to have fun!! (just don't ket yourself get annoyed with the rude Europeans that just push infront, as you wait patiently for character autographs - a swift stamp on a toe, or elbow in the ribs usually prevents them doing it again

    2) No. You'll be in the parks all day, so no need to upgrade your room. its just a place to crash at the end of a long day!

    3) Lucky Nugget is always good value and entertainment with the characters. Cafe Mickey can be good as you get the characters, but we have had many personal experiences of rude staff recently, but can be expensive. RainForest Cafe is better value food and also entertaining with all the moving animals on the walls, and thunder claps every few minutes.

    4) You dont have to, but it will certainly save you queing for a table if you just turn up., or being disappointed that you cant get in the restaurant you wanted to.

5)Its Disney - it will be expensive!! There is a Bar in the Disney Village that shows footy that always looks quite good, but i've always been with the kids and missus so never fancied going in there on my own!

6)take as many snacks/drinks (choc bars/crisps/juice etc)for the kids as you can, and take a few out with you each day. They are bound to want something whilst there, and its not cheap - getting close £2 for kitkat !!

    hoe that helps
    have fun

  • Thanks Guys,

    Some really excellent advice.

Half of me is tempted to go with the flow and really enjoy myself. My 4 year old loves Peter Pan and Tinkerbell so a small happy smiling face will be enough to please me.

    Thanks everyone. Merry Christmas

  • I paid £315 for 3 days and 1 day in the park for 3 adults and 1 kid and a baby and we have 3rd day in paris.
  • Personally, I think DLP is excellent value for money if you choose the right time to go.

I have been going for the past 4 years and have paid £490 for six of us this year- 2 adults and 4 children for three nights on site with 4 days unlimited passes to the two parks and with all our meals included.

As this includes breakfast, lunch and evening meal I don't expect to spend more than a further £100-150.

I always take drinks and snacks into the park with me and never buy any of the expensive stuff in tbhe shops. The kids always all buy something but again we choose souvenirs wisely - for example the pirates of the carribean ride shop has swords etc for a few euros each.

It's not about what you buy or spend -its the look on the kids faces at the whole disney experience - it's amazing!!
  • Okay guys I just need some clarification on my order if anyone could help me.

Basically, I booked for 4 magical tickets (1 visit 2 parks) and ordered delivery by post. The tickets just came yesterday, but when I looked on the back, all of the names are the same i.e. one of our names is on 4 of those tickets. Will there be a problem with the ID check later on? Also, I am giving away 2 of it to my other friends, will we be able to use these tickets seperately? Thanks.

Don't know how you are getting there Mickeyd007, but we recently went accross by car - £103 on Eurotunnel (paid on Tesco vouchers), and we stopped at the big shopping centre at Coquelles and bought 6 bottles of wine for £11.50 from Tesco - less than we later paid for 3 hot chocolates and a bun in the park! I'm really not a total alchy but we have a 6 yr old with autism, and after a full on day in the park (and believe me we pack in every second), its lovely to relax with a glass of wine. We are always in the room by 8.30pm, as he's had enough by then and trying to stay out longer would be far too traumatic as behaviour deteriorates! The Esso garage by the Santa Fe used to sell wine and beer.

As others have said, just go with the flow - yes its overpriced, yes they try and get money from you at every turn, but it is magical, the kids will love it, and before you know it those songs will be in your head!
Be the change you want to see :j

Our tickets all had my name on the back, the important thing is to look for it saying what ticket it is 'adult' 'child 7-11' or enfant '3-7'. There is no ID check but if going to extra magic hours they will want to see your 'Easy Pass' and room key and they might see that the tickets are not the same name if they check these at the same time.
