Can anyone help, im after a day trip To Disneyland.
1 adult 1 child aged4.
Travelling from Manchester.
Anytime midweek between December 1st to 18th
Any advice??
Thanks everyone.Well, you'll be spending more getting to London for the eurostar one way than the eurostar return to paris.
Hello there
I went to Disney in January on the Eurostar from Manchester. I booked the whole ticket through eurostar (including the virgin train from mancs to euston) it cost £178 for two of us, me and my BF (changing in Lille though). It would have cost double if id booked a virgin train seperately!!!!! Just a word of warning thosugh, you have to go through getting your eurostar tickets at St Pancras, this took a while for me in January so make sure you have enough time between the trains.
hope this helps a little xxx0 -
we have a 3night trip to the cheyenne hotel booked on 31st march 2010...on the eurostar!...we have all our meals included (we get the free meal vouchers)...including insurance, transport, the stay etc it is costing us 904 pounds for 2 adults 2 children and a infant...i think this is a good deal and am hoping that by having the meals included this is going to save us a huge wack of money lol.
i went back in 2001 (b4 i had kids) and it was brilliant we didnt stay in a disney hotel but it was fab none the less...except the french drivers, i would never drive ona french road again.
ive read mixed reviews about the cheyenne and disneyland in general..when we went things werent too expensive as it was still in francs as opposed to euros.
im worried that our 'magical' trip will not be so and that we shouldve just saved teh extra and gone to florida!
my 5 yr old is a huge disneyfan...everytime he sees the ad he is nagging to go..this is going to be kept a complete secret that we're going..im just worried he'll be dissapointed and also we'll be fgor the wholetrip going you cant have this you cant do that its too expensive!!
how much would be a good amount to take in pounds for that length of time and for all of us etc
I don't think he'll be disappointed. We stayed in Cheyenne with our 5 year old and he loved it. The rooms are pretty standard, but then you aren't in them much. The hotel set up is cool for boys as it just like in a western, ours loves walking up the main street, they have pony and traps rides at times. The play area is like a fort but doesn't any swings or anything. Make full use of the extra hours as it will get very busy when you are there. You should get one breakfast in Fantasyland, when you get into the park early - get on the first breakfast if you can - second shift means no rides are open before your breakfast time, and by the time you finish breakfast its opening for anyone staying on site. Can't comment on the meals as we haven't done inclusive, but restaurant do get VERY busy and I don't know if there are set times.
Don't know how you are travelling but we always take a travel kettle as they aren't standard in Cheyenne, and our own coffee. You can buy milk in the shop at Cheyenne. We also take some juice to dilute as they don't do Robinsons kind of juice, or even fruit shoots, and some fruit as that is in short supply!
We are going in 3 weeks (can't wait!) so if you have any more questions feel free to ask.Be the change you want to see :j0 -
thank you...great post.
3 weeks lucky you...make sure you rap up warm lol
we have been talking about doing the buffalo bill and character lunch..we can apparently use our meal vouchers in part payment which is great.
we rae going by eurostar...have driven on french roads before not fun lol.
how are you going or gone in the past?
i think im going to be more excited than the kids...they doint even know we are going to keep it a complete surprisetill either the train or just let them work it out for theirselves when they get there

We are driving and going Eurotunnel (Tesco vouchers - yeah). My hubby is okay with driving abroad - I wouldn't! We've never done Buffalo Bill - our son has autism and I think it would be too much for him, and to be honest it's too mcuh money to risk having to leave after a few minutes, or never even get in the door! Similarly we haven't done character lunch as he is not keen on characters close up! One thing we did find last time is the characters come out just opposite the Pizzeria Bella Notta, you can eat outside if its a decent day and there's a good chance you'll see loads, and they come over and say hello - better than queueing, although there is no guarentee who you will see.
I'm slightly embaressed to say this is our 5th visit. Once to Santa Fe, twice before to Cheyenne, the other was a day visit on our way back from Switzerland. We all love it, and our son gets a lot from it. He loves Big Thunder Mountain, and would stay on it all day given half a chance! We all love Buzz Lightyear. They got me on the Tower of Terror last time - never again! I'm a bit of a wimp.
I know this has been mentioned before one earlier posts, but there is an Esso Garage next to the Santa Fe, less than 5 mins from the Cheyenne (just follow the river along). Much cheaper than park or hotel shops for drinks etc for return journey.Be the change you want to see :j0 -
i did go a few years ago when they were still building the studio park..when i didnt have children...i loved it and am so glad i have the oppertunity to take my children...im so excited by seeing their faces
im really looking forward to the rides especially the tower of terror...im thinking about introducing the kids to a few rides toothe OH doesnt like them so he can just wait for me hehe.
im still worried about how much we'll need to take as i dont want to spend a fortune but dont want to have to keep saying no to the kids!
im hoping march/april wont be too cold or wet!0 -
How much money to take is a tough one. I totally know what you mean about not wanting to say no to the kids. Its easier for us I guess, because we only have one, and he finds some of the shops too much to cope with so we avoid them. It's usally Buzz Lightyear we get caught in, oh and DH always covets the cool Indiana Jones stuff!Be the change you want to see :j0

we have a 1 yr old, 6 yr old, and a 7 yr old (at time of travel)...the 1 and 6 yr old are defo going however the 7 yr old is OH son from previous relationship..even tho we have booked him a place etc his mother has said he can go but that remains to be seen lol.
the 6 yr old LOVES everything disney!!!..so am expecting lots of pester power lol...the 7 yr old isnt too bothered to be honest..there isnt much he likes anyway so he shouldnt be too bad..problem with have with him tho is he is the fussiest eater ive ever known..so that could cause some issues
i am doing alot of research and making sure we know to some degree where we are going and what we are doing...the 6 yr old likes structure..so we cant just make it up as we go along..and we always tend to spend too much time standing around deciding where we are going and less time doing stuff lol
the bigger kids are going to take some spending money of there own..we will probably wait till the last day then they can spend it on a souvernier to bring home.0 -

Cheyenne is a great hotel - we have stayed there the past 4 years.
You will not be disappointed.
We have also stayed in Santa Fe and Sequoia Lodge, and found that Cheyenne, Pound for Pound is by far the best value for money.
The walk along the river and around the lake is lovely in the mornings, if its a nice sunny crispy morning.
Only takes 15/20mins.
Breakfast buffet can be a bit manic, but all the hotels there are like that!
try to request a room in one of the blocks near the main hotel building (Annie Oakley Block is a good one)
It just makes life easier when trudging from reception to your room, after checking in with all your baggage.
and also less to walk from your room to breakfast each morning.
if driving yourself, to cut costs, fill every spare gap in your boot with drinks/crisps/snacks/fruit etc for your kids (and yourselves)
then take some into the park each day.
that'll be alot cheaper than paying extorniate prices in the park for snacks etc
if you're not driving, just try and squeeze in as much as you can into all your bags! Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
(MSE Andrea says ok!)0 -
yeah we arent driving..we are catching the eurostar...the good thing about that tho is that it has teh express checkout on there so we dont have to go to the hotel first we can head straight to the park
we also have meal vouchers for all our meals which is good...that way we can stuff the kids at breakfast lol...but we are hoping it is going to save a fair bit on food knowing taht we have meals or they can be used towards other restaurants not on the list.
but we will still take some snacks..especially for the baby and the eldest *(hes really fussy)..actually thinking about it im gonna have to stock up for the middle one that boy can pack some food away...would eat us out of house and home.
theres 2 adults, 2 children, anda baby...how much money do you tend to take?0
