  • he's not actually diagnosed though, it was a tricky situation, in the process of being diagnosed for 6 years but in the end there was no 'label' given and now he's about to go to high school the statement of special needs has stopped and he's learning to cope with his differences. we go to alton towers with a deaf girl and get disabled bands there, it's certainly worth asking about if anyone else has a child with special needs.

what sort of proof did you provide?

This thread is great! Has anyone been near christmas then? Its just i was looking for a short break just before - maybe 2 or 3 days. I was just wondering what the weather was like, is it very cold? Would be great if we could get a cheap deal. Last year i took my ds to Lapland for the day, and even though i booked tickets to see santa at Harrods this year, i dont think he is going to be to impressed. Lapland is going to be so hard to match. Disney sounds great though.
  • i would love to go at christmas - for me as much as the children (one is too old and doesn't believe in santa, one is too young to know what santa is). what are the queues like though? the 2 year old hates queueing.

btw can I add re food and drink etc, dont buy drinks. Just take water bottles with you. There are ice cold water fountains ALL OVER the park! My pal told me this in advance. when we went it was 90 degrees and we drank GALLONS of water Luckily these fountains were everywhere which saved a fortune. |I took crackers and cheese and stuff with me and filled up an iceland freezer bag day and night with ice cubes from the machine (free) and kept it in the cooler bag with the cheese and butter

We just had maccies for tea twice and pizza and chips from the val de europr twice.

We live a very long way from London,Norfolk, but with pre booking etc on train,it cost us £57 return for the 4 of us to get to Waterloo,it would cost us much more to fly!

but then you have the shuttle fare, plus it must take hours.
For the 4 of us to fly from liverpool it cost just over £200.(return) And that was a 50 minute flight, and we got to the airport an hour before we flew, kids board first, so pretty fast and stress free. It would knock hours off our holiday travelling down to London and I doubt we'd get it much cheaper! We're lucky we have esyjet flying from Liverpool and BMI baby flying from manchester. We can fly from either airport. Liverpool tends to be quieter tho and check is quicker, cos it is a smaller airport

We went to Disney Paris in June,we paid £289 for 2 adults and 2 children with Eurostar, this included the 4* hotel. The hotel was in Bussey-saint-Georges a short train ride into Disney and it only cost 5 Euros,if you want Disney on a budget, stay away from the resort itself and get a hotel in the surrounding areas of Marne la valle,Bussey-saint-Georges.The free child places for under 7s do not work out a bargain when you add up the extra cost of staying in a Disney hotel ;)
Just a quick note,we loved the Walt Disney studios,my DS was in absolute awe at the stunt show and DD loved the 'Behind the magic tour' as did I.I do think the tickets are expensive for the parks, but you can get some bargains if you book before you go.
Hope you find something and have a good time
    LIH

just out of interest LIH how many nights did youstay for at that price? And does that include your travel to and from your hotel from eurostar?

We had 4 nights, and paid a total of £750 for flights hotel all travel and park passes. But thats a great price!
Was the 5 euros per person per way? Cos if so, for 4 thats 40 euros a day i suppose which all adds up.That said, we got the weekly travel passes anyway to get us to and from the airport to the hotel so I suppose you could get them after getting off eurostar too. They cost us about 25 euros each for the week (Bit more for adults bit less for kids; i paid £107 euros for the 4 of them)

I have been in November - their Xmas starts all the way from November so it is the same all through except on Xmas eve, day, NY eve and day they have an extra meal - I saw it in the brochure yesterday and it is very expensive. There was also some festive show that we missed by a week but I cannot see how it would make any difference going early in the 'Xmas' season would be any different to going over Xmas break expect that you would have to pay 4 times more for it. It was not that cold to be honest, coat weather, but the walking does warm you up and the cold did not both us that much - we did not need gloves and hats, but a good winter waterproof coat, yes. It did not even rain when we went and the sun was shining. Oh, I lie, I think it rained once but we went on the Small World ride a few times and went we got off it has finished. Remember if it is too cold and icy some rides may not be on so think about this as well.

As for queues - we were very spoilt and there were hardly any, at the most 5 minutes, apart from on the last day as I explained before when it was a French bank holiday and the queues for the kids rides were about an hour. We just fast passes the ones we could. I think in the whole day we got to go on the Peter Pan ride, Flying Dumbo ride and Casey Jnr Train. It was a very long and frustrating day!! Before this though, we kind of got a little bored of staying on the rides and going around and around, and around and around. The kids loved it - we on the other hand were bored witless!!

Pizza Planet is quite reasonable and you can get some salads in there but NO trip is complete without a visit to The Rain Forest Cafe. go at lunchtime when it is quieter and get one of their wraps, they are huge and better value for money than the meals they do. Also, Planet Hollywood does lunch time meal deals as does Kin Ludwigs Castle - all in Disney Village. They are better value than the park restaurants - have your main meal during the day (if you are not intending on going on the big rides else you might see it again and that is a gross waste of money in my opinion, ha ha) and then a lighter meal in the evening as it'll be cheaper that way.

I think this time we'll take some extra snacks for the evenings in our case though as they were limited on the park and pretty pricey when you did find them.

The price was for 3 nights in the Best Western hotel,Bussey Saint Georges, the cost of travel from Eurostar (Disney Marne La Vallee station) to the hotel was 5 Euros, that is return travel for 4,so not 40/day,just 5 ;)
I really don't see the benefit of staying in the resort itself,so much cheaper to stay outside, the train system is so fast and very cheap,it's also easy to work out.We worried about finding the hotel, but you could see it from the station and it took less than 3 mins walk to get there.

If you live near an airport, then flying would be better, but our best airport would be London,so we'd still need the train fare to the airport,or airport parking plus petrol,so it's the same either way for us,yes we could fly from Norwich, but have you seen the prices  would need to win the lottery for that ;)
