Disneyland Paris/EuroDisney - Questions & Answers

  • Hi

I really want to go to Disneyland Paris either late this year, early next year for 4 days/3 nights. I have search on the disneyland website etc and obviously this is very expensive.

How cheap have any of you done it, i.e using easyjet/ryan air, driving down, staying in cheap accomodation as opposed to disneyland hotels.

Surely it can be done quite reasonably?

Just thought i'd ask before i spend the next few weeks trawling the websites.

There would be 6 of us, 4 adults and 2 children (one 5 and one 8)

    Thanks in advance x

If you book the eurostar in advance you can get fares from as little as 25 pound per person each way, then if you visit the disney land paris website, the offer is still on where children under 7 stay free, so you would get one free child place.
If this was ot suitable a train runs from paris to disneyland paris regularly through the day, so you could get a cheap eurostar into paris then a cheap hotel in paris, the train into disneyland is not an expensive one or a long rie.
this is what we did when staying in paris :)

As lauric says, you can get the Eurostar really cheap. We have just booked the £25 each way. If you can't get the daily Eurostar, check whether you can change at Lille onto a TGV direct to Disneyland Paris. You may find this easier and quicker than taking the metro/RER, as there's more walking/changing trains involved.

Check out prices for the Hotels at Val de France. These aren't Disney hotels, but do have free bus service to the parks. Sometimes you can get a bargain, sometimes you can't. The hotels there are: Kyriad, Holiday Inn, Dream Castle and Explorers. Holiday Inn and Dream Castle are the more expensive, Kyriad and Explorers the cheapest. Val de Europe and Bussy St Georges aren't far on the RER train (though you would have to pay for this) if you want to check hotels a bit further out.

If you want to consider an appartment, you could try staying together at the Citea Residentiel Marne la Valee, see http://www.hotels-paris.fr/en/hotel/Citea-Resid-Magny-Hongre.htm for more info. I haven't tried this one, and it is a bus journey away from Disney (not as straightforward as the others), but you can read reviews of those that have stayed there before from the above link.

  • I dont know really about ways to get there... but for the hotels, it is worth having a look at www.hotelformule1.com. Very cheap, about 20 pounds max a night, and you csan put up to 3 people in the same room without the price changing. You just need to check if any of them have a RER or a bus going to Marne-La-Vallee nearby (Marne-La-Vallee bus station and RER station are literally right next to the park entrance, i know I used to work for Mickey and his corporate friends one summer).

Bring your own food in and eat it while queuing. If you decide to buy food or ice cream or drinks inside, be extra nice to the staff and try to speak French to them: being treated like a robot is what they have been doing all day, sometimes even by very rude people who think their money allows them to speak badly to the staff, being nice to them will most probably earn you an extra big scoop of ice cream!

Apart from that, all I have to say is Enjoy! Oh and if you can, try to stay away from the Walt Disney Studios: it is utter crap! Only 2 things are worth seeing int here: the rock n roller coaster and the stunt motorbike show. The rest of it is just fancy shmuck.

  • madfrenchgirl - I have to disagree with your comment about the studios. Granted its not as full of rides as the other park, but for a few hours, if you have a hopper ticket, its well worth a visit. The rock and roll rollercoaster is unmissable and if you like visiting stage shows - there is plenty to see. Just wanted to say that it is each to their own and it depends what you want out of a visit.

We usually go over by ferry or the tunnel and camp at bernyriviere which is one and a half hours drive away from disney and then we go to disney for a day or two. I have brought tickets off ebay before now as two days is usually enough, and people often buy 3 day tickets and don't use the third day.

    Good luck
If you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.
  • Thanks everyone, you've given me plenty to get my teeth stuck into, i'm on a mission now!!

Thanks again, and i'll let you know of any bargains x

  • Bargain Babe... I ahve been to the Futuroscope which was an effort funded by the local authorities 20 years ago and is based around special effects and use and experimentation with images: it is waaay better than Walt Disney studios which were put together for an extra quick buck.

If you go to Paris: the old slaughter house quarter got transformed into "la cite des sciences", I'd rather go there anytime than going to Walt Disney studios.

Ina ll fairness, it is true you get a hopper ticket and after 4pm, you can go back into the main park. I would tell people to try it, but do not expect it to be that great. i would say go ther eon your first day as the ticket can be used to get into the main aprk after 4pm, and if you ahve an extra day spare, go to the "city of science" in Paris.

you cant use a walt disney studios ticket to get back into the main park anymore! beware. We were told this (but were told after 6pm) but they wouldnt allow it.

I shoved the 2 kids through the bariers while they werent looking and then bunked under myself, found an adult and child ticket on the floor, sent DD (12) back through with both tickets while I watched at gate, and she gave one to her dad and they both came back through and fortunately both tickets scanned ok. I was disgusted that we had to resort to that but at 6pm I wasnt paying for a full days ticket and we didnt want to miss out on another 5 hours in the park. I agree the studios are not as good as the other park but if yu've gon all that way prob worth a look. if you're doing more than one day maybe get one hopper ticket and the other days just the theme park. If you're doing just one day, dunno whether a hopper ticket is worth it cos you'd lose lots of time going from one park to the next and queues are bad enough.
Defo best to book on line though cos you get a discount and there is no queueing for tickets when you arrive
