I don't know why I didnt search this forum for a DLP thread, of course there is one!
We have booked already to go in May half term, 2 adults and 2 kids (11 & 16) with Eurostar from Ebbsfleet - I think the deal was decent with 2 days free, we have been before and stayed in Sequoia lodge that time.
I have a few questions and welcome any tips..
We have to change at Lille, this saved £400 in train fees and a quick google suggested it was straight forward and mad to pay the extra for direct (esp as we went direct last time and a tannoy said all the indirect people would be direct anyway) is it straight forward to change?
We have no meal plan so will eat onsite (will bring some snacks and brekkie type stuff) any tips on food - we went 5 years ago and only found the train station shop as we left!?
We plan to get to near Ebbsfleet the night before so a cheap hotel, welcome any suggestions as Travelodge is looking best bet at the moment? (premier inn count our 16 year old as an adult so an extra room needed, Travelodge at least allow 3 'adults' and 1 kids in a room)
Short of reading all 600 pages has someone done a guide to any tips and tricks etc?0 -

very straightforward, you get off your train, up the escalator to the main concourse, and then wait for your next train to show on the notice board with which platform it will leave from (ours left from the same platform our Eurostar train came in on)

there are a couple of new restaurants in the Village which won't break the bank, keep an eye out on groupon.fr for vouchers for DLP Village restaurants too, and there are a couple of shops in the train station - my favourite is the Relay/Casino shop all the way down at the end of the concourse as you come into the train station from the park exit, look to your left and you'll see it.

I'd book the Premier Inn and just not admit your 16-year old is 16 - they won't ask, and they don't really care. Having just stayed in a family room in a Travelodge over Xmas, I'll be avoiding them altogether in favour of Premier Inn for as long as I can possibly do so, the family room single beds are ridiculously uncomfortable camp bed contraptions, whereas my kids (even now they're teens) have never had any trouble sleeping on the Premier Inn family room pull-out beds. We used Premier Inn Gravesend when we took the Eurostar from Ebbsfleet, it was great, and a nice easy 10-minute drive to the Eurostar terminal in the morning.0 -
Looking for some advice please, really want to take my 3 daughters back to DLP and have looked for Feb half term and found a deal for 3 nights from 16th at Santa Fe with full board included, flights and transfers for £1350 is this a reasonable price or will I be better waiting till later on in the year for another deal to come up? Any advice appreciated.0

if thats for 4 or 5 of you and you're all aged 7 or over, then I think thats an okay price, and Jan-March is the cheapest time of the year to go to DLP, so if you're restricted to school holidays I'd go Feb half term.0 -
Yes its for the 4 of us, thanks for your reply. Do you think the price will come down at all?0

Hi ya
I don't suppose anyone has any idea as to when the next Under 12's free offer is likely to appear (if there is one). Since my boys both turned 7 (two years ago) we haven't been able to afford to go and I have got serious withdrawal symptoms :-(
Thanks in advance

Hi Sarah, Ive been checking all the European offers today to update our offers doc and the French and Belgian sites both have an up to 40% off and under 12s free offer at the moment. Book by 14th Feb for stays between 29 March and 30 Sept.
But there are also masses of free half board and full board plans out there at the mo with either up to 15% off as well or up to 25% off depending on when you go and for how long. So the free dining might outweigh the cost of paying for your over 7s in the grand scheme of things? I paid for a package for November just gone that included free half board even though I have an annual pass, so didnt need the park ticket, as the meals we were wanting to have cost more than the price of my unused park ticket. Just a thought0 -
just seen on another forum that Eurostar have released kids direct fares for £25 each for the first 6 months of the 25th anniversary celebrations at DLP (so up to end of October 2017 trips) -
"Just book before 25 January and travel from St Pancras, Ashford or Ebbsfleet International between 20 February and 31 October 2017."

Hi Eddi,
I have been looking at the 40% offer with U12's stay free on the French and Belgium site, but when I try to select the Newport Bay Club hotel it always returns a message about a minimum of 2 night stay required and only offers the standard rate with no discounts. I am actually trying to book for 4 nights in April. I wonder if it is because I am booking for 2 adults and 3 children they are limiting the offer.
I have looked at the small print and it does include all the room standards for this hotel.
Would I be better ringing them up directly?
Thanks0 -

if all your children are aged 3 or over then your party doesn't fit in any of the standard onsite rooms at DLP. Which means you're restricted to booking family rooms (if available) and those rarely get the good discount offers that the standard rooms do.
you could see if the davy crockett ranch has the 40% off and free under-12s for your dates? it might be worthwhile considering that, and even hiring a car, if you weren't travelling from the UK to France by car anyway.0
