Disneyland Paris/EuroDisney - Questions & Answers

Another question - what do people think is the best way to do a day trip to Paris from Disney?
We'll be staying in Davy Crockett so will have the car, but don't fancy driving into the middle of the city!
Would it cost a fortune to go up the Eifel Tower?
Can you get close to it without having to pay?
Anything else worth doing for a day trip?
We are 2 adults and 4 children (11, 8, 7, 5).
Thanks,
Jim0 -

I'm sure one of the experts will be along soon, but in the meantime here's my 2p worth.
We wanted to go the Eiffel tower when we went in 2013 but I found that you can (or have to, I'm not sure) book tickets in advance and there were none left by the time I looked. I think they sell out weeks before the date. We did go to look at the tower from the ground (you can get right underneath it without paying) and there were lots of people queuing, so maybe you can buy tickets on the day but I think you would wait for a long time.
Instead of Eiffel, we went to the top of the Montparnasse tower. This is an office block that has left its top floor empty and roofless for viewing the city and has a cafe and information in the floor below. Fantastic views of the Eiffel tower and the rest of the city, cheaper entrance fee and very small queue.
As for driving, don't do it! I would plan to go in by train, parking at the DLP station (I think there is a car park there).0 -

Nearly time for us to go. Getting very excited!
Trying to decide what to do about spending money while there. Don't want to take it all in cash in terms of security.
Have listed my cards in order of preference for spending and withdrawing cash.
Presumably there are cash points at Davy Crockett and/or the Parks.
Do these charge extra (e.g. like a cashpoint in a newsagent in this country) over and above the charges from a bank's cashpoint?
How much can you withdraw from them per day?
Thanks,
Jim
yes there are cashpoints in the parks and the Village at DLP. I have the used the one in the Discovery arcade in the main park, and I don't recall any extra fees for using the machine, just my bank's foreign transaction fee charge.
You can also register your debit or credit card when you check in the Davy Crockett ranch, then charge your meals/shop purchases to your cabin. Then you can pay your bill as and when you like at the Davy Crockett reception - latest when you check out.0 -

Interesting comments about Montparnasse tower, toffifee. Thanks. As for driving, don't do it! I would plan to go in by train, parking at the DLP station (I think there is a car park there).
Where do we get the train to? Can't get any sense out of Google on this one.
I've a feeling it's Gare du Nord that you go to from Disneyland. Is that the only option?
If so, how do we then get to the Eiffel Tower and/or Montparnasse tower? It's over an hour walk from Gare du Nord.
Any idea how much getting the train would cost?0 -
Sorry, another question.
What's the best supermarket in the area for breakfast, drinks and snacks?
[Preferably en route from the Parc to Davy Crockett Ranch!]0 -

Last Sept we paid 60 Euros / £49 approx for 10 tickets on the train (you need 2 each for return travel)
We get off at Charles de Gaulle Etoile which brings you out right opposite the Arc de Triomphe (great photo op). Then we walk down Avenue Marcel Marceau to the Eiffel tower, but quite a walk tbh. Never taken the Metro but I believe the nearest stop to ET is Trocadero (think Pont d'Alma is on a different line). I noticed that the stairs access is quicker at ET but only good for 2 floors. Also you can picnic in the gardens at ET. Didn't go up the Tower but did a cruise on Bateau Parisien costing 56 Euros/ £44 approx for 4. It is opposite ET and down the right hand steps, but there are others besides Bateau Parisien.
For shopping we use Auchan at Val d'Europe but it's not really en route, but you will pass Carrefour, I think it's near the intersection of A104/A4.
Hope this helps a little."Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it": Ferris Bueller

Quote button appeared this time when I logged in. Doesn't seem to be very user friendly with an ipad anymore!
If you are feeling brave (very brave) there are signs for a car park very near to ET. Don't know anything else about it, didn't go and look as OH won't take his beloved motorhome into central Paris. When we did accidentally drive into Central Paris on our first trip to DLP (missed the Marne La Vallee exit) it was a Monday lunchtime and totally manic. OH is used to heavy traffic, but that was a nightmare. I don't know if they have an equivalent of a Highway Code in France, if so, nobody reads it! A small tip - there is a small roundabout outside DCR with too many exits off it - take extra care if it is busy. The French can't negotiate roundabouts that well."Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it": Ferris Bueller

Hi fellow earthlings :~)
Thinking of going EuroDisney next year and have had a good read through some of the more recent posts ....
Plan is to drive and book an apartment and self cater. I personally would like to see some of Paris whilst the kids enjoy the park so would I need to chaperone? If I am chaperoning would there be enough things over there to keep adults busy? My 3 kids will be 13, 14 and 16 next year ... is that to old for Disneyland?
Maybe it is something I should have done a few years ago but was never in a financial position to do.
Thanks in advance0
