    Hi everyone!

Pleased to report a SFD today. I very nearly just spent £15 on some items I need for my business, but I decided that it can wait until tomorrow which will probably be a spend day anyway as I need to do weekly shop.

Have booked DSs birthday party for £60 (but haven't paid yet) so I have £40 left in my budget for that. I already have some presents put away for him so that should be plenty for food and finishing touches.

DD has won some tickets for a local indoor play centre at the school fair so that will be a free day out over the holidays.

Am just trying to work up the energy to do an inventory of the freezer and cupboards and put a shopping list together ready for tomorrow.

    Evening all

Today was a NSD other than paying the council tax and tv licence. As they are essential bills, I shall count it as my first NSD of July :D

I walked the scenic route home from work which took me along a river and through a park so a bit of outside time today. Me and OH have been discussing going camping so the plan is to go next weekend if the weather stays fine.

I've also been to the gym today, my target is to go 3 times a week so 1/12. I've been going with a friend once a week which is fun so just need to fit in two more a week.

I received my £5 bank account reward today so have paid that off my debt. I get paid tomorrow from 2nd job so will pay a little more then.
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50

    Thanks Bob.

Ok I'm Dolly. I have already done my July debt repayment as payday is 26th, I paid off £600 and I hope to pay off another £80 mid month.

Yesterday was a spend day due to grocery shopping but it was all planned and within budget. Today is NSD #1.

I can do the £25 treat fund and will spend that on a family event of some sort.

    Evening...

Not much to say really... spend free day number one!!!!
    :j

Hoping to get another three as I am working this weekend. Can't believe I am excited about working just to get SFDs.
    :o

The thunder storm last night was amazing. Stayed up watching it. Absolutely stunning.
    :D

Day two of gluten free diet is not going as well as I had hoped. Mainly because I have gotten indigestion again tonight. Still, I said I would give myself a week to clear out my system then start monitoring the effects.
Found out turkish delight and wispas are gluten free (from the looks of things) so yum yum. Oh... and wotsits!!
    :)

However, stupidly bought crumbed ham yesterday.

Spending this evening going through my google maps and putting dots where we would like to visit. Not exactly riveting stuff but it makes me feel better.

    Hope everyone is doing okay.
    Hugs.

Hope everyone is getting on ok, I can't keep up with all the threads:( I'm on my 2nd NSD but feeling slightly under the weather so I feel like I'm cheating!. Anyways, have also paid some more money towards credit card and put a quid in a new savings account that I am using to save up a lump sum to help get rid of loan. Hope this all make sense.

    Keep going gang :T

    Hi Bob and all....
Mr T's price promise...I know its my mistake, I never would have checked it out except...Benecol Light at Mr T's £3.49..at Asd* £3.00...so I asked a question instore...no we match the price and you get a voucher..which I have had before...
    This time..I saved £4.48..on £77.95....No Voucher ?..Hmmm.
Made a call...and also checked my receipt on the site ..here are the terms that apply:
One item may have been cheaper somewhere else. But another item may have been cheaper from us. So to work out the overall difference, we look at all your comparable grocery products.
This ensures that you won’t pay more for your comparable grocery shop than you would at Asda, Sainsbury’s or Morrisons.

Damn...I bought Bleach at a really great price plus other savings.....but that has offset the difference of the .50p..and who knows what

So back to shopping list and the old research...as I have always done..

I am naive perhaps but hate getting caught..

Going to work out my NSD's saturday..and will progress from there ..
    Good luck everyone

    Evening all,

Thought I'd better do my official starting post :)

My situation = 30 year old singleton living with 3 dogs and a cat. This is my first full month of being single and managing the finances for the house alone. Budgets are now incredibly tight but I am working on every conceivable way of increasing my income, whilst trying to shave more off my expenses.

    The rules=

    1) This challenge runs from midnight on 1st July to midnight on 31st July - I'm in and here all month :)

    2) You will aim for 20 No Spend Days - I definitely need to do this

    3) You will post your main financial aim on the thread - to pay 50% of all additional income earned off my debt and 40% to go into a pot to cover major expense, like MOT etc. The final 10% is for me, I am in desperate need of shoes, freshen up of my work wardrobe and would like to be able to socialise more during the school holidays so that I don't drive myself mad sitting at home alone.

    4) You will nominate a Turtle who turtlally inspires you, and post your reasons why on the thread! - lots of you inspire me in different ways, particularly those of you who have children and still pay towards your debts/savings. I think the person who has the most inspirational story/journey for me is mothernerd :)

    5) You will plan at least 1 outdoor day - once I finish exam marking and break up for the summer, I will spend at least one whole day in the garden, giving it a freshen up :)

    6) You will brand drop 1 level on your food shopping - already do for almost everything but will keep an eye on my shopping basket and make any available additional changes

    7) As this is a bucket & spade boogie challenge, you are allowed a fun budget of £25 for the month - yay :) I am going to plan to have a takeaway this month. Currently, this is a big deal as ex and I used to eat takeaway together and I haven't 'dared' order one alone yet, but I love my local indian takeaway so will use some of the £25 for that

    8) Pick a good cause close to your heart & donate £5 of your money, or £5 worth at least of your time to that cause this month - I already have some DDs setup to charities but will look for another charitable cause to support.

    9) You must check in on the thread daily, or as often as is possible if you are at work etc. will do, last month was the first month that I have failed to read and post daily but I am feeling more 'normal' again and will keep up with this.

    Thanks Bob, great challenge :)

Sorry, I missed posting yesterday, but I am pleased to say that it was a NSD, so a good start. I took my daughter to the swimming pool but I'd previously bought a 20 entrance ticket so it was already paid for.

    So my goals are:
    10 NSD
Do ALL shopping in Aldee - it's too easy to pop in at the local shop but twice as expensive (the exception to this is eggs from the local farm, where I see the chucks outside).
On the 18th we set off on a bit of a journey round the UK Visiting friends and one of them is at the seaside so that will be my outdoor day.
25 treat - might be a trip out to the cinema with everyone.
My saving/spending goal is to have 20% of our monthly salary left at the end of the month - usually it's all gone.
I have transferred money for repayments/interest already into the right account.
I will donate some money to our local animal rescue - they sent an appeal today - it's the season for stray kittens.

Tomorrow we're going on a Uni visit for my son. Am going to take a packed lunch, but will probably buy a coffee or something there, so not a NSD probably!
    Seriously money saving

    Hi all

Not a sfd today as needed some milk! So whilst I was up town I bought a couple of bits for my week away and some new clothes, both of which come out of separate budgets.

    1/15 sfd
    1.00/20.00 grocery spends

Only 4 days of working left, my last day is next Thursday and it can't come soon enough.

    Lunch toasted cheese sandwich
    Dinner mackeral salad

    Nannyg
    £1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund
