    Bake Off Boss!
Hello turtles! SFD number 3 for me today, the weekend is going to be very spendy though (shopping with mum tomorrow as I desperately need some work clothes, then a night out with some friends). Added another £10 to my savings today though, I figure if I do it early on then I'll be less tempted to spend later in the month, as the money won't be so easily available in my current account! Have written a shopping list for OH for Sunday shop, just got to hope he sticks to it! :D
Much warmer here today, actually looking forward to the 1.5hr drive to my parents' this afternoon :-) summer always makes me feel just that bit more alert and awake, in spite of the hayfever!
    Have a lovely weekend turtles!
Bought my first house in 2014 - now, to be mortgage free! :D

Today should be NSD 2 - just need to avoid the shops on the way home from work later. Tomorrow we are at a wedding so that definitely won't be a NSD. I think I will really struggle with the £25 fun money part of the challenge as I always tend to spend a lot on social things. I will see how I get on and will keep a total of how much I spend over the month. I'm pretty sure that I underestimate how much I spend on going out with friends so it will be interesting to see and hopefully something to improve on next month.

Sunday I think me and OH will do the weekly shop. We used to go Aldee all the time but recently have just gone to Morries as it's closer. We're planning to go to Aldee this week and get back into the habit of going there.

Payday today so I have added £5 to my emergency fund and £4.69 paid to the debt. Meant to say well done on your £1000 emergency fund Bob - how long did it take you to save it up? I'm aiming to get £500 put aside but its very slow going.

    And another quote:

Compare what you say you want vs. what you do & your daily habits. Do they match? If not, time to change, time to plan & prepare, time to figure out what really matters. Embrace the pain, pay the price, earn the prize.

But each step we take serves to move us nearer to our goals. And at least we have goals and aims and targets and challenges, instead of wandering aimlessly and wondering why nothing changes.

One SFD already, despite the temptations of the new paypacket. Will today be SFD 2? I doubt it...

I have been so busy with my work I've not had much time for here.... that said the day job is ridiculously quiet today.

My other job is keeping me busy. Very busy indeed. And so is OH who has started putting together his homebrew kit - looking forward to trying a batch soon! Mind, might be a bit experimental... :p:beer:

    Afternoon :)

Nice reading everyones posts again. Mothernerd - I did chuckle at your supermarket names... Arseda? :rotfl:

Took a packed lunch in again today, and am claiming SFD number 2, as staying in this evening. Nothing much to report... work was good, looking forward to a long, restful weekend.

Bob - Yes - I did read your purse idea - sorry I never said thank you! I do have a spare wallet knocking around that I'm not using, so might give it a go. I'll let you know how it works out. Us men have limited pocket space, and I'm not keen on 'manbags'... the trouble is... too many wallets stuffed in my jeans may draw undue attention. People are gonna think I'm either very gifted or that I just filled my pants, depending on where I stuff said wallets! LOL.

    ;)

    Hi all,

Nothing much to report here as been in bed all day. Trying to sleep in this heat was a bit of a challenge. Opened the windows to let a bit of air, but today was the day most of my neighbours decided to do the lawn mowing or hedge cutting because of the nice weather, so I was privy to a concoction of humming sounds everywhere. But the good thing is, another NSD WAS BAGGED. NSD number 3.

Last of my night shift tonight and I do hope that this lovely summer that I have missed this week will stay during the weekend. Lots of things to do in the garden - the pak choi that I sowed in modules are desperate to go to their final place, so in a few weeks time they could give us free meals. I have couple of pots of dwarf beans in my front porch (my pretend greenhouse) and I was so pleased to see three beans and they are purple, so exciting. The ones left outside are also trying to catch up with the indoor ones. The tomatoes have lots of flowers but no fruits yet (my first time to grow them so I am hoping I did everything right and I am so looking forward to have homegrown tomatoes). I have 4 pots of spinach that are on their way to being productive. Still waiting for the lettuces though. So here's to a nice sunny weekend everyone!

So today I did a bit of debt slaying just a teeny payment of £2.36 towards CC1 which has brought me to a round figure. I now have £70 in my sights to find by the end of July to bring that to a round £500 figure. I agree with you Apple and the old adage 'fail to plan, plan to fail' maybe I wont make it, but Im going to raise hell trying.
As the EF is now complete the journey to the next milestone of £4,000 should be a lot quicker from next month.

Dolly - Well still good for you, using your payrise for something so sensible. Your doing yourself a favour in the long term.

TimeTrade - Good for you resisting the urge to buy a roll. It all helps doesnt it.

Thrifty - Congrats on your nomination , you deserve it :)

Calling - I now have an image of your dog sort of half dog half Jennifer Anniston shaking its mane & declaring ' cos Im worth it'

Academia - Congrats on No 3, have a great weekend away.

MissTara - See the £25 as a target, not a must do. Lifes too short right :) I found these challenges very hard when I first looked at them and thought no way could I ever do X or Y, but somehow your mind changes over time & now it seems normal to me. So dont say never on reducing your social budget, it just takes time.
I took from November of last year to now to do my EF. I started off putting £50 a month in, then upped it each time something happened that meant I could, like cutting back on home insurance cost, or shopping budget, or getting energy DD down. Eventually I got up to £180 a month going in, but I did have to pay myself back the full amount a couple of the months, or almost. So it wasnt just a solid one way street of saving.

Wishus - Be careful with the home brew! My normally very conservative mother got off her face on home made orange wine once when we were small...

The Only Girl - Sorry you didnt get much sleep. But horray for NSD 3!
