Hi All,
I would like to know if sky boxes are worth taking as well.
Hi there - I've bought sky boxes twice at car boots - out of necessity - had about three digi boxes and none would work where i lived so only way i could get tv was with sky box and couldn't afford that - anyway, i was really pleased to see first one at car boot (and paid £5) and second time i saw a more up to date one at car boot bought that at £2 - so for me, it was great that people had them. I am pretty sure that first time i saw them, others were snapping them up. all the best. ps that was about a year agoAiming to take control of my life:A
£10 per day in JUNE
So far: £18 ebay; £20 cash for clothes; £50 flea market0 -
I live in a town which has quite a large Eastern European population for its' size and they drive around in Mercs and BMWs. It's not them at the boot fairs locally, it's the indigenous people on benefits.
I can't see the logic of stall after stall of people trying to flog off piles of thirdhand kids' toys and clothes from Primark to people who are just as badly off as they are.
Some years my mother and I will do a boot fair that's part of a fete in a pretty village. We sell off books we've finished with and china we're bored with - general bric a brac stuff - and do pretty well.
I've noticed over the years that whereas at local boot fairs I used to visit I would get interesting stuff eg lots of decent old books, china, it's all clothes and toys now and very little else, not really worth me going.
I get more interesting stuff in Oxfam now. I've noticed that their prices are dearer for say secondhand tshirts than new ones in ASDA !0 -
Hi all.
I'm planning to do a boot sale in the next couple of weeks, just wondering which would be better out of Whitchurch (Bristol) or Keynsham. Mainly have baby clothes/toys, women's clothes and household things to sell.0 -
Some people don't quibble about my selling price and I like those!
Others go from poking everything and sauntering off or haggling to death and others acting hard-up. (Offering 70p for a haggled down to £1, that they may have never had)
Weird how the pattern of sales go from blocks to long idle times!
They can be addictive as a buyer.0 -
I find that if yr stall is busy more people come to see what the fuss is0

Did my first car boot of the season today - was a late riser one starting at 11 so we arrived at 10:30 to find we were an hour late?!?!? apparently people had been queuing to buy from 8 despite the signs all saying it didn't start till 11! We probably missed an hours trading which is annoying but you live and learn and we did quite well and our boot was definitely emptier when we left.
People are funny though - haggling down 10p on a book for no real reason. And the lady trying to sell a bowl for £10 - similar to one I could have bought in aldi a week or so ago for £8 - probably would have had more chance reaching that price if she'd bothered to dust it and remove the spiders!! :rotfl:0 -
Hi all, looking for some advice please. My DD has blitzed her room over past few days and wants to make some money selling toys and bits, I've done done a car boots for about 10 years plus so can anyone tell me realistic and suitable prices for things like
Brats dolls - one per bag in good condition, dressed plus with shoes, bags, jewellery, and with one spare clothing item eg top/skirt/shoes
Polly pocket sets
Cuddly toys assorted sizes , and TY beanies
Puzzles, board games - no pieces missing
I am also going to try and sell some of my sons clothes (daughters stuff goes to my sis for my younger neices) so I have quite a few Animal and Gap branded t-shirts is £1 each reasonable if they are good clean condition?
If anyone on here is from Basingstoke area and knows best place to car boot that would be great too, can only find Vyne school listed online0 -
I have a lot of clothes to sell at a car boot sale in a few weeks, I've got two heavy duty clothes rails but I am wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to make some kind of dividers/signs for different sizes?
Would like to do this as thought it might help make looking through the clothes easier.
I usually put a big-ish sign at the front of the rail saying sizes 14-20 etc but would like to also divide the clothes on the rail but am struggling to think of a way that would work well. Does anyone have any suggestions??0 -
Most shops slip a coloured disk onto the metal hook of the hanger ?0

I'm doing a car boot at the weekend. I'm keeping the prices very low as I want to sell everything. I have everything sorted into priced baskets. Looking forward to it. I'll let you know how I get on0
