  • Yesss I have been to the 'Boreham car boot sale' also and I can confirm it was great! I managed to get a 5mm cinefilm projector at an incredibly fair price... I recommend highly! Does anyone know what it's actually called?

Hi everyone. Long time lurker here!

Thinking of doing a bootfair soon as I have a lot of old tat cluttering up our house.
As well as the standard stock listed here ( books, DVDs etc ) I also have a box of 6 new smoke alarms and literally hundreds of golf balls in various condition.
Would either of these items be any good for a bootfair?

    Thanks!

My kids went to a school that backed onto a golf course (dangerous or what? ) Their collections of golf balls eventually found their way to a boot sale.

Can't say I know the current price of used golf balls thought, ebay might give you a steer on the price.
  • Due to do my first car boot this week. Really nervous! Mostly a lot of kids stuff, DVDs, bits and bobs. Wondered if anyone could tell me how much to charge for plastic baby toys, toddler toys eg. ELC, Lego etc. and children's DVDs such as fireman Sam, baby Einstein, etc. all very good condition. Is there any point taking children's books? All have been very well cared for but I see some have said books don't sell well. Any advice welcomed!

You may have seen books being given away for free in charity shops.
My local high-street has two give away charity shops.

Depending on your political outlook these shops are a scam or an perfect example of government interference in the free market, if you are a Chicago supply side economist.

The government is so desperate for more tax to cover our fiscal deficit, that business rate are now levied on empty shops, however there is a discount for charity shops.
So it makes sense for the landlord of a bankrupt trader, to pay a charity to occupy the now empty shop. Tough on booters and second hand book shops.

Gosh the car boot was windy this morning, the weather was quite miserable generally.

Very slow start, I didn't even unpack everything to start with as there were so few buyers but it picked up about an hour in and I have managed to declutter yet another batch of things.

  • hey all, I am doing my first ever car boot sale at St Philomena's, Carshalton on Sunday. I was just looking for a bit of advice on prices. I have four old bikes from when me and my sisters were a little younger, all in good working order. I have a foot spa and nicki clarke hair straightners.
    any help appreciated!

Bought a collection of old magazines from a carboot for £2 last weekend....got an opening bid of £69.99 for them today on ebay! A little old couple sold them to me, said they were clearing out their sons stuff. He is going to be miffed!

    What magazines were they?

I "gave away" something similar to this (ie with missing front cover) for £1.
At the time I thought the buyer was nuts.
