Car boot sale advice - updated 2013

Hi all , we did a bootsale yesterday ,a new one for us, wasnt that busy.
Did okay but thought our Playmobil boxed brand new sets would have sold for decent money , to buy new one is £150ish and we wanted £60,plenty of asks but no takers.
Maybe it was just the day, planning to do another boot in a couple of weeks and try again, , or are we better off to ebay it ??
Anyone any sold Playmobil recently , what did you get ?Member of change Pip's name back to PIP club

Having a boot sale later on a Saturday morning, allows the booters to get home on a Friday, and then have time to sort and then load the car the following morning.
It is a quick hit situation: Vehicles wanting the better pitches at this established venue and with lots to lay out, can pay £12 and be let in after 10:00, late comers after 11:30 pay £7, leaving only 30 minutes to set up - OK if you are a super efficient regular, with standardised crates and a limited range of product.
A few early dealers will drift round between 10 - 12, before the general public burst in at noon.
Very hectic but all over by 14:30, when we packed up.
Took £70 on a sale of "One person's Trash is another's Treasure" basis.
The hanging rail of clothing was a disappointment. I think this was a symptom of the reality that only car owners were likely to visit the venue, coupled with the economic fact that the trader makes the most profitable sales by dealing with customers dissimilar to himself.
(think French visiting market in the run up to Xmas).
So anyone know of a venue within easy reach of a housing estate, with a significant number of migrant tenants, in the area.;)

I'd love to find Playmobil at a car boot but I don't ever take that sort of cash with me. A friend bought several sets of second hand Playmobil last year at a car boot for £10 per set,
I suppose with eBay you have fees to to consider. What sets have you got?0 -
I'd put the playmobil on a local facebook selling site like facebay for your area, it would be almost certain to sell if its half the price of new. playmobil is still really popular, I'd love to get my son some sets but its just too pricey when he is really into lego too.0

You are not going to get anywhere near 50% of RRP when places like amazon discount it. Your boxed set 4324 is currently £119.99 delivered on amazon .
4343 is £39.99 delieverdI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm doing my first car boot tomorrow and have lots of new glass vases and ceramic pots to sell. I'm now worrying about whether these will sell or if I can get enough money for them to make it worthwhile. Its surplus shop stock so I can't afford to make a big loss on them :-(0

It's probably too late now- but I sell glass and china and my car boot allows me to attend as a dealer (although I also have a huge amount of personal stuff). A car boot is the final destination for my stock, it is either too big to send or has failed to sell on ebay already.
I would expect between 50p-£2 for a glass vase depending on size and whether it is cut glass , crystal, named etc. Last year I had boxed Aynsley vases that I churned out at £1 a go and still couldn't sell them all so end of season they went to a charity shop.
Large planters can go well, I've had up to £3 for a good make but they sell slowly if you hold out for more than a pound or so.
Hopefully though the buyers aren't as mean where you are!
If this stuff is pretty and not just high street stuff then a vintage fair may be better for you as people will spend more there for an item.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks, it actually turned out worse than that. People refused to pay more than 50p for anything even though its good quality and still packaged. I got a bit fed up and left when I saw other sellers also leaving having also sold virtually nothing. I only took £25 so it was a waste of time and I got insulted into the bargain. Maybe it was bad luck but its put me off doing another in a different location incase I lose more money. I'll have to stick to ebay and maybe wait to do xmas fairs. :-\0
