At my local car boot books don't sell very well. You are lucky to get 20p so you would probably be best going to check one out the week before. Either that or check around before you set up and that also lets the horrible people that get into your car and take whatever they fancy.

If you want to get a decent price, rather than just get rid , you may be better off selling the Jack Wills & Hollister on eBay or similar - especially if they're unworn.

Over the Easter Weekend, my brother and I made a pilgrimage along the A130 to the A12 junction at the North East (furthest from London) end of Chelmsford. It is signed as A130 Stansted airport amongst other places. This is the "Boreham" interchange and from the roundabout above the A12, just before the on slip towards Basildon & London, there is an access exit to a farm yard.

This was our first visit to this venue

It was a well run and marshalled 06:00 (ish) to lunchtime sale, though not cheap at £12.
Probably a much smaller turn out than normal, owing to the climate and the missing hour. Not much of a frenetic "dealer" start, but just pleasant with a steady stream of people all morning.

Sunday was the only Easter day, to dawn still & sunny, though putting items on the table, to see them turn into real frosted glass, was a new experience. The the surface round the loos had got a bit "interesting" by noon, as the ground thawed.

The two of us had pooled our acquired surplus stuff over the winter and sold most of it for £90, though we still have a suitcase, of now folded and ironed jumble for next time.

The most interesting "shoppers" were a couple of women collecting pairs of shoes for export to Ghana - good luck to them, doing their bit for the UK deficit (memories of the 1970s ?).

I am thinking of doing a small late start car boot on my own on sunday- and I hate not having someone with me.

Weather looks good though and I have a winters worth of stuff accumulated to sell.

This is my local carboot! As the weather warms up it gets absolutely packed with sellers and buyers...went last week with my little one for a browse and we slid round on the muddy field looking for bargains...she's desperate for a Toffee the Pony with a carrot but I have little hope of discovering one of those up there! :) sellers I spoke to were there at 5am on Sunday
