Hi there
I am thinking of doing a Bootfair tomorrow (Saturday) instead of one on Sunday as the weather looks like rain on Sunday down in Kent.
Do any of you find that Saturday bootfairs do ok as opposed to Sundays? I did a booty last week on a Sunday and took over £250!!
I know I prob won't do as well again this week, but don't want to waste my time on a Saturday fair if they're not very busy....
The one I'm thinking of doing is Tara Boot Fair, in Addington nr West Malling, Kent. Anyone know this one???
thanks0 -
Without giving too much away about one of my own businesses I would say that steampunk does badly at car boots as the age of the browsers is wrong. Steam punk goes very very well if you are prepared to pay real money for a stand or display at comic fairs, conventions and anything to do with sci fi that attracts younger people.
Agreed entirely! We found that our 'quirky' 'alternative' stuff like t-shirts, books etc barely sell for anything or don't sell at all. Anything like that we put on eBay.Now I am employed, lets get rid of this student debt!0 -
Hi, thinking of doing a car boot this weekend. Can anybody advise on which day of the bank holiday is likely to be the best from experience. I could do Sat, Sunday or Monday?
Thanks in advance!0 -
Last year I did a Sunday and a Monday at the same venue.
The Sunday was much more successful in terms of numbers of shoppers - I think because it was more of a case of habit - not much to do ? let's go to the boot sale! We've still got some money left after Saturday!
[The heavens opened for 30 minutes at 11:30 on the Monday, which put a premature ending to the event; but that had not been forecast so I don't think it kept the buyers away.]0 -

Thanks, fingers crossed for good weather on Sunday then as that would be my preferred day0 -
Morning all x Have trawled through this thread looking , so appologies if my question has been posted before ( not had enough caffine yet !) My ds has a ps2 that no longer works so wants to get rid if his ps2 games. Anyone know how much they go for ? Got about 60 + plus guitar hero stuff , 2 guitars & drums ?( The rest of the stuff we are selling is toys, games & baby toys, brick a brack etc, got loads of books but I think I might just charity shop them as it looks like they dont sell well.) Dont mind if they go for next to nothing thb . Any advice would be appreciated x
TIA

Ps2 games go for £1 each where I'm from (south London) unless you happen to have something rare or particularly new. I'd say £5 each for the guitar hero guitars and drums if they're in good condition.0

Hello,
We are planning on doing are first car boot sale next weekend and I was thinking about making some homemade playdough. Has anybody done this before and how much did you charge? I was thinking of putting the playdough in old, clean 500g margarine tubs or takeaway boxes. I was also going to include the recipe so they can check for any ingredients their little one maybe allergic to and make it for themselves at a later date. I want to make 9 boxes and seeing how they go and if they are successful making more at a later date. What do you think?

I made an inquiry with Trading Standards and the answer is no. Playdough comes under strict toy and food legislation. If I want to sell homemade playdough then I have to have it officially tested to prove that it is safe.0

Just a quick question to all you seasoned sellers....is it worth taking a box load of videos....Disney kids/James Bond/Nature/etc....do not want to lug a box along which is not going to sell! TIA.0
