Hi everyone I am new here but I want to pick your brains as I am having my first ever car boot sale next week.
Are these prices ok for selling:
HB Books £1 each
PB books 70p each
CDs £1
DVDs £1
Baby Clothes 50p each??
Too much or not enough?
Any help appreciated.
Seems very reasonable, each sale will be different and each day would bring a new challenge nothing stops you from changing the prices when you find out they need it.0 -

Be aware that when you first pull in and start to unpack the car, buyers will rush you , they will try rummaging in your boxes and some will try to get in the back of the car, looking for bargains. This is usually referred to as getting mugged . This can be quite intimidating and you can get items damaged or stolen in the process, so try not to do the boot sale alone[threadbanner]box[/threadbanner]
I'd definately recommend taking another person with you - if you cant police your stall by yourself, don't take so much with you. There'll always be another car boot sale!:money:Mark Mead0 -

Even with two people, we lift down the tables from the roof rack and set those up, complete with the hanging rail that goes diagonally across the boot and another table device that mainly sits on the bonnet.
Anyone badgering us and trying to squint in at the windows of the car, gets told to come back later at which time we will have got out "the good stuff".;)
Then we have a cup of tea.
By that time several more car have pulled up behind us and the tide of "muggers" has moved on.0 -

I think you have answered your own question,
You will get better prices for individual items on Ebay by and large, boot sales are good for getting shot of stuff on mass - "You won't believe what some people will buy if its cheap enough".
That said if you have individual items, there is nothing to stop you taking along stuff where you know the price (eg minor antiques etc. worth less than £100 and sticking to you price. A "retired" antiques dealer sold a collection of medals on the stall next to us in a crowded London car park (cramped pitches) for a total almost into £'s 4 figures.
Clothes are a bit of a special case - if you can make them look like new then you will get better than jumble prices - the problem with buying on line is "what is its real condition and will it fit me" plus with ladies clothes the boot sale offers the chance to ask a friend "what do you think - is it me?"

havent read thru the whole thread but one tip I can share with you is try and set up opposite a CRAP stall and avoid being directly opposite and very popular stall.
might sound counter intuitive, but when people walk up and down the rows they can only take in one side at a time. If you're opposite the 'big guns' with a great big stall most heads will be turned the other way as they pass yours.
Also, shout a lot to bring in the punters!0 -
What's the general consensus on selling mobile phones at car boots? I'm going to be doing a car boot soon and I have about 5 old handsets with chargers. Most of them aren't worth anything on mazuma etc, will they sell or is it worth recycling them?0
