Hi everyone I am new here but I want to pick your brains as I am having my first ever car boot sale next week.

Are these prices ok for selling:

    HB Books £1 each
    PB books 70p each
    CDs £1
    DVDs £1
    Baby Clothes 50p each??

    Too much or not enough?
    Any help appreciated.

It is worth trying anything and if no one is buying you can always reduce the cost. I think 70p for a paperback is quite high in my opinion and also means that you have to have a change for a pound all the time.

As I said in my previous post I sold them at 50p each or 3 for £1 and they went very well so you could try something like that.
    OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

Yes thanks I have done that.

I just wanted to know if anyone has been to any car boot sales over the last few weeks and what sort of prices CDs, DVDs and Books are selling for.

    Anybody else have any evidence?

    Hi

Does anybody have alternatives to car boot sales?

I made £400 quid on one once but we did have some pretty good stuff to sell. Got two kids now, and the thought of trawling through endless boxes sorting stuff out doesn't really fill me with glee.

  • I cannot stand the start of car boot sales when you are setting up. You get swamped by grubby vultures trying to go through your stuff before you can even display it !

Hence I now avoid them like the plague !;)

OOkaaay..seems like an odd statement though for the car boot thread.

Funny though, to think of car boot sales sweeping through the country attacking you like the plague.... rather than being organised events that you can avoid simply by not going along.

You get there early, just lock the car and wander off to find the loos.
It is is busy there won't be many checking back every five mionutes to see if you are setting up yet.
Having a car with a key fob that only opens the rear door helps and doing it is two people is almost essential unless you have everything ready in display boxes (ie you are semi professional specialising in something rather than selling general household surplus stuff.)
