Anybody know if there's any car boots on in the next couple of weeks in Leicester-ish area? I thought the sale at Melton Cattle Market was all year round, but apparently it's taking a two week break, and I need the stuff gone before then!0

Hi guys,
This is a bit of a long shot but I don't suppose anyone has contact details for the organisers of the City Road car boot in Bradford?
The numbers listed here http://www.carbootsales.org/county/yorkshire.html just goes straight to answerphone, and I have not received a response by email.
Kind regards,
Anthony0 -
Hi everyone,
Being a bit green fingered and not having much car boot fare I was thinking of raising som veg and maybe some flower plants from seed to sell at a car boot. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Was it worth it and can you offer any advice?
Thanks!
P.S. I'm in South East London so any pointers of good car boot sales in the area will also be much appreciated.0 -
Hi
Does anyone have any advice for car boot sales in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire?
I live in between Worcester, Cheltenham and Stratford upon Avon. I know that there are car boot sales at Cheltenham, Beckford, Long Marston and Bidford. Do you know of any others?
I have had a big clearout and need to hold a sale or two. I went to Cheltenham racecourse boot sale and couldn't believe what I saw. It looked like people couldn't sell stuff - even at really cheap prices. Same thing happened when I went to Long Marston car boot. Not sure if I went on a bad day or whether car boots are dying off.
Would be grateful for any advice/info.

Sorry, Joedog, can't help with Boot Sales in that area, but interesting point you raise about boot sales dying off ..... I've been wondering that myself.
Certainly, locally, I've noticed that some of the more popular Boot Sales, last year, were not attracting so many visitors. Is it because there are too many now?
Also, having done a fair few over the years, I thought sales had dropped off dramatically, with it being quite difficult to get more than 50p for anything!
I suppose it could be another by-product of the Recession, affecting disposable income, but also I'm sure that Ebay has had a big effect, with most people putting their decent stuff on there to try & get a better price..... leaving the 'junk' for the B/Sale!
Also, the proliferation of outlets like 'Poundland' means that people can buy new things for the kitchen etc., for a £1 ..... so why pay any more than 50p for a 2nd hand one!
It just seems to have become the domain of a few Dealers who get there in the middle of the night & try & forage in your car!
Perhaps, also, the novelty factor of B/Sales has just worn off - people have fallen out of love with them?0 -
Hi
Is it worth taking books or videos to boot sales to try and sell or do they tend not to sell for much?
ThanksWins August 2012;£15 itunes voucher, Martin Mere family ticket, sanex bundle, step up bundle0 -
Videos are more or less a dead duck.
The books depend on what they are. You can check on Amazon to see if you have a sort after item and then sell on line.
For general run of books, I built a shelf that bridges over the bonnet of my estate car (supported by cushions where it sags in the middle and secured to the wing mirror mountings) and allowed the book browsers to get into that area and get on with it, to see what they could find (It was a boot sale where you could sell from the side of the vehicle and my bonnet was next to the chain link fence, so not annoying the boot of the people in front).
I suppose the books from a house clearance paid for the entrance fee, as they sold themselves and book people will talk to you about the second hand book market - by definition they are more literate than your average buyer.0 -

Splott and Bessemer Road run all year round. Splott is partially undercover and runs Thurs and Sat mornings. Bessemer is Sat and Sun mornings. Both are are a bit crowded and grubby compared to Gelligaer but, as Gelli is on an open field it is only really good for fine weather.0 -
Good Afternoon. Wow some fantastic advise for a first time car boot seller. Can i ask 1 question? I am doing my first car boot sale this week as well as the usual household clutter i have recently made raised veg beds out of seasoned decking boards and have enough left over to make 6 more at various sizes from 1msq upto 1.5msq do you think these are worth trying to sell at a car boot sale i will be including all fittings ie screws, corner stakes etc if so what sort of price do you think i could sell them at?
Many Thanks for any help0
