    Hi all,

    Some qu's

    1. What's this talk of using adobe pdf to view and print the vouchers? on my computer the link given is to an html webpage and the voucher is a jpeg. How do I view and print this voucher using Adobe?

    2. When you open the link for the voucher, it has a popup warning that only one voucher is allowed per person. so what are people doing to be able to use loads? You must all be not filling in the name and address fields? Does Tesco accept them when the name and address fields are left blank?

    3. I was under the impression that Tesco's no longer took vouchers for unpurchased goods/offers. I used to see people do this in my store around 5 years ago and shortly after I realised what they were doing, my store put up signs (at the till) saying they don't accept vouchers for unpurchased goods, this was 4-5 years ago. Now-a-days I never see anyone trying this at the till, and I know also that the coupons you get with your clubcard statement will not be accepted if you haven't bought the goods. So what gives? How are you guys using coupons for goods not purchased whether 50% of the total (as someone mentioned) or even 2% I bet my store won't take vouchers for unpurchased goods.

On a general point about Tesco's instore customer service desk and managers I have found them to be lacking in all stores I've been to, on subjects like Tesco's price promise on petrol.

Tesco should refund double the difference and reduce the petrol price to match if you find a cheaper source of petrol within 3 miles of the store.

    (begin Rant..)
I found myself (on point of principle not because I wanted the 8p refund) having to go to customer service desk, their first reaction was usually to say "oh I don't think we do that anymore"...... (I have learned now to go prepared, first I phone Dundee, and confirm the policy is still in effect, then I ask them to send me a letter confirming such. I show this letter to the CS staff after they try to fob me off.)..........Then I have to go back the next day to ask them why they have not reduced the price on the pumps.

After fighting my local store on this repeatedly over the years they now have agreed to reduce the price within a couple of hours - they used to try the excuse that they only do petrol surveys on a Monday and a Thursday so they could not reduce the price until their next survey. A few threats from me to report them to trading standards has eventually acheived the current status.

They also used to say I had to have a reciept from the other petrol station, NOT TRUE, according to the t&c's of the petrol policy. Then they tried to reduce the price for one day and the day after put the price back up again to the higher price, I had to return and give the trading standards threat again, so they would reduce the price.

They used to say "we increased the price because we anticipate a price rise in the local area". It all came to a head one morning after they yo-yo'd the price for the previous 2 weeks, I was there at 8am demanding they lower the price again, when I asked to speak to the store manager, the junior manager said "He's just come through the door now, I'll discuss this matter with him later" (again a junior manager trying to fob me off and not wanting to look bad infront of his store manager) I wasn't having any of it, I turned around to see a manger walking in thorugh the store entrance, and I waved him over. I gave him a brief recap of the situation, and the junior manager had the audacity to interupt me to say "I did offer to discuss the matter with Mr XX(store mngr)XX there was no need to call him over" I said to him "If you lot wern't so incompetent over the last 2 weeks I wouldn't have to insist on speaking to Mr XX."

Mr XX was extremely good at his job and dealt with me in a very professional manner, he listened to all I had to say. and he would look into it and talk with Head Office - I told him that Head office will tell you that they "anticipate a price rise". I told him, to tell H.O. to stop anticipating, that you have a petrol policy which guarantees to match the lowest price in the area, rising the price before your competitiors is not complying with this policy.....

Later he phoned me to say he agrees with me 100% and he said that he told Head Office that in his store in future, they would not rise the price until the local competitors had risen first.

About 2 years later, it all started again...**ALL** of it after a few days of getting nowhere with junior managers I asked for Mr XX again. He said that the policy still stands as he agreed with me before, but his petrol manager had changed recently and that was why the problem had arisen again. He told his new petrol manager how to deal with Head Office when they asked for a petrol price increase, and all was well again.

    (Rant over...)

I feel better now and I hope the vigilant among you will do the same because Tesco's is the largest retailer of petrol in the country and if Tesco raises the price in an area then usually the others soon follow.

    Other annoying facts about Tesco

*They cancelled their "no quibble" refund policy.

Further to earlier post about the New Oscott store, I had another call from the Customer Services Manager who came clean and told me what the deal really is with internet vouchers.

She says that, having spoken to head office, she can confirm that the Tesco official policy is that "the store manager has the discretion whether or not his store accepts them or not."

I told her that I find it incredible that the UK's largest retailer has no proper policy, and lets each manager decide on the hoof. She admitted it was a shambles and that the staff didn't really know what to do either. She said it was "possible to ring on a Monday and be told 'NO' and ring again on the Tuesday and be told 'YES' to internet vouchers."

Tesco customer service is certainly rubbish, but at least I know I can go and redeem my vouchers tomorrow. I've printed loads off. Good job I've got a big car boot for all those bogrolls!

Just a question - when does the amount of loo rolls in your house become a fire hazard?

Tesco currently have Velvet Toilet Rolls 9 pack on a BOGOF for £3.46, if you print off the coupon below - originally posted by Poppit on the Offline/online discount vouchers board. you can get the two packs for £1.46 (using two vouchers of course) - the coupons will scan.

PLEASE NOTE: THE BOGOF ENDS ON 17.5.2005 - so we have a week to CLEAN them out

Please press the THANKS button if you found this thread useful - want to break the 100 barrier.

Does this work out cheaper than the bog standard stuff, either per roll or per sheet. Anyone into doing advance maths this morning!

It worked for me, two packs, two vouchers. Didn't scan through, had to be entered. I purposely picked a nice young assistant who told me she could only accept one, but changed her mind when I pointed out that I had purchased two packs. Bless her.

Lots of BOGOFs and some just reduced fresh produce, so came out with masses of shopping for very little cash. If I wasn't moving house shortly I'd be back tomorrow!

Just send the removal company to the shop :D

managed to get one voucher accepted, after the store manager was queried over it. Better than nothing. Also managed to get 2 cases of fosters for £10 each using tesco's price match policy from their previous offer that was out of stock (after many problems someone admitted they did pricematch)

Gutted now. Just been to Tesco and there are none left. And they dont seem to do "rain check" vouchers either.

And the girl at the till recognised me, called the check out supervisor over and started whispering, obvious what was being discussed because I heard "one per coupon".

Then they refused to accept my Sainsburys vouchers despite showing them my email from Tesco HQ, still insisited that they only accept the total spend vouchers (like spend £70 save £2, yes that is exactly what Sainsburys send me even though my average shop is between £20 and £30!)

    Oh well...
