  • this is a copy of the email sent from tesco...hope this helps

Any coupons, which display the Tesco logo, are Tesco specific. We only accept these if the products referred to on the coupons are purchased. This is because we negotiate savings with our suppliers on the condition that these actual products will be purchased.

With regard to coupons from brand name manufacturers, we are happy to accept one, even if you have not purchased the product. However, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the item. If you present more than one identical coupon, then you must purchase the same number of products.

This also applies to coupons printed from the Internet. However, these will only be accepted at the discretion of the Store Manager.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain our policy.

Went into my Tescos today with 8 printed vouchers, wasnt sure i had the nerve to try and use them all at once so picked up just 4 packs of toilet roll. When i got to the till i handed over 4 of the the vouchers along with cash and clubcard and she tried scanning vouchers but they wouldnt work. I knew they probably wouldnt from what ive read on here and told her 'i think someone said something about you need to manually put them in'. So she started to do that but wasnt sure she could read the numbers properly. She didnt call for anyone else, just done it herself. Anyway it worked and i got my £4 off as well as the bogof. So i will be back to do it again before the offer runs out.

Tried tonight with two packs and two vouchers. Ended up on an aisle with a girl who was doing her first shift, felt very sorry for her when I gave her these strange looking vouchers!

The manager was called who said that they don't usually accept internet vouchers but they will accept one as a goodwill gesture. Told the young girl to take £1 off the remaing pack then wandered off. The poor girl still didn't have a clue and put the voucher through as £3.46 off!

    Result - 18 rolls - free!!!

(Plus only charged me 1p for about 8 carrots)

Got my two packs of toilet rolls from Tesco, Lakeside, yesterday. Coupons wouldn’t scan. I was informed by the checkout girl, supervisors and section heads that they could not accept them.

Next stop, Customer Services. Coupons wouldn’t scan, same waffle. Duty Manager called. Coupons still wouldn’t scan. Big smiles all round as I was informed that Tesco would not accept my coupons. Now I love a good haggle so insisted that the bar code numbers themselves were keyed in. Smiles drained from their smug faces when both coupons registered.

I would have liked an apology from all the Tesco staff who tried to fob me off but contented myself with the look on their faces as I was handed a £2 coin.

Big up to Ms-Money-Penny for the tip.

Can you expand on this please, do you mean rain check on a previous instore but out of stock offer or pricematch on a competitiors price? If the former, you managed to do it without a rain-check voucher?

Tesco's used to give out rain check vouchers, I've not had to ask for one recently so I'm surprised to hear people saying they don't do them. This could be CS staff not knowing what they're doing,

it was a 'raincheck' voucher as you call it, they called it pricematch. We got given a voucher that the still operator had to fill out and apply the discount to the bill.
The only person who said they didn't do it was the home delivery driver, although when we went in store twice and asked the people at the customer services desk we were never offered a voucher when they had no fosters. It was a person in the home shopping department who helped us get the voucher, the customer services apologised and that was the end of it.

Got my 18 rolls for £1.46, no problem. They wouldn't scan, so (i think) the lady at the till just keyed in the £1 discount for each voucher.

Good things come to those who wait......... but the best will be taken by those who got there first ;)
