Where do BT get off hiking Line saver 17%?

Its all coming down the exact same BT Line so speed has nothing to do with line rental .0

Its a LRS it saves you money however much that may be. A saving of £1 or £100 is a saving. EE Do a saver of £165 which saved me about £30 for the year, equivelant to £13.75 per month i went with that and paid for a fibre package and speeds and service have been awesome. You may pay more for fibre but if you want quality you pay for it.0

My car insurer doesn't hike his prices 15 % in a year. If fact, the longer I am with him, the relatively cheaper it gets. You don't have to do anything. In the same way that you don't have to look around for the best rates for home insurance, car insurance, mortgages, savings rates, gas, electricity etc.
Same with gas/electric supplier.0 -
Actually, you have no idea what efforts I have made .I cannot get my current speed at a cheaper price. I have BT infinity. BTW, insult is the refuge of the desperate.zolablue25 wrote: »It actually takes about 10 minutes every 12 months (maybe less often depending what you sign up for) by using a comparison website or, indeed, this website to find the best current deal. But if you don't have 10 minutes then I understand why you would be hesitant. You seem to have 10 minutes to spend writing about BT but not to do something about it. We are lucky that we live in a country with a relatively free market meaning that if you don't want to pay the money your current supplier is asking for you can change quickly and easily, but if even disgruntled customers aren't prepared to take their business elsewhere why wouldn't BT milk them for everything they are worth? You aren't confusing BT with a charity or even a company with ethics are you?
BTW, I also have a life and paying for that life is the reason I take the aforementioned 10 minutes to get the best deals available.
Edit: Sorry, just re-read your response and it appears you actually have nothing better to do than to write to OFCOM. Now I'm the one who is confused, do you have a life or not?0 -

Why edit? The original put down was much more effective than that.Edit: Sorry, just re-read your response and it appears you actually have nothing better to do than to write to OFCOM. Now I'm the one who is confused, do you have a life or not?

Talk talk offers up to 17mb which with Ali wiring means about 8.
Virgin. No service to my postcode
They are all pretty much the same story.
I currently get about 19mb with Infinity.
My problem is not with the package. It is with the rise of 15%.0 -
Like it no claims bonus for broadband accounts .
Whhoops misread the thread again missed the fact its about Line Rental not broadband .0 -
Looking at Ofcoms website (Goodness! My life will just have to wait!)
"Although Ofcom does not investigate individual complaints, your help in highlighting problems plays a vital part in our work and we may investigate a company if monitoring data reveals a particular problem."0 -
Until a couple of years ago my BT phone/broadband costs were around £140/qtr (ca 150 calls ?), but latterly I've encountered some difficulty in keeping the quarterly cost below £200, and with a third fewer calls.
However, closer inspection of BT's tariffs reveals a major restructuring of their daytime charges per call to UK landlines over the past 2 years:
- Jan 2013: from 7.95p/min to 8.41p/min
[STRIKE]- Feb 2015: 11.3p/min + call setup fee 3.3p
Thus the pro rata charge has increased by +34% over 2 years (8.41p > 11.3p)[/STRIKE]. And some people are worried about the risk of deflation to the UK economy ?!
Curiously, this isn't evident from inspecting the BT quarterly phone bill, as it doesn't show the basic pro rata charge per minute (only the cost per given call).
Update: I've re-read the Feb 2015 BT Phone Tariff and ought to correct the 11.3p/min (+ call setup fee 3.3p) cited above which applied to 'BT Basic' scheme.
- Feb 2015 'Calling Plans available from 19th April 2013' (?): 9.58p/min No Inclusive Calls
Thus the pro rata charge has increased by +14% over 2 years (8.41p > 9.58p).0 -
The price increase on calls has been well noted in the past .
Choices for alternative suppliers abound .0
