Setanta Sports cancellation fiasco
Comments
-
I sent a recorded delivery letter to the London Address to cancel my subscription.
After reading the T&C's I also sent another to the one in Fife.
They have completely ignored both as I received a letter today about the cancelled DD.
I'm going to ignore them now and keep an eye on my Bank Account for setanta DD's0 -
The banks apparently have no power to refuse a company on DD taking funds
They can pay back any monies payed in error though0 -
As a follow up setanta finally got the idea and have cancelled my account.
However, they have cut me off one week early which I guess is no surprise considering their track record.
What they don't know yet is I will pursue them to either reinstate or refund.
If neither I will pursue them in the county court.
This is one flybynight outfit which isn't going to get away.
Its obviously not for the cost but the principle and the satisfaction :rotfl:0 -
Setanta Sports are RIP OFF merchants.
It is not 1 month minimum contract it is actually 2 months aswell as 20 pound signing on fee.
Try cancelling the contract then the BIG problems start, I paid 14 pounds to cancel after 6 phone calls.
The following month i have no picture but still being charged, so i then have to fork out another 13 pounds in phone calls and 5 phone calls later i am told i will be refunded but it has already cost me more.
By the way the last Setanta worker i spoke told me this is common and that she would never ever sign up for setanta sports due to all the problems cancelling.
WHAT A DISGRACE, I SAY BOYCOTT SETANTA THEY ARE CRIMINALS.0 -
I signed up for the 3 months for a fiver-a-month deal on-line in October. I haven't really watched it much and it's now gone up to £9.99 so I thought I'd cancel. It then occurred to me that I've never been sent an account number or anything else from them. Do you need an account number to (try to) cancel ?
Also just noticed that there's no customer services or cancellation phone number on their website ?? What's that all about ?0 -
Wish I did my research I signed up for the offer before xmas of 2 months for £1 and then monthly on going contract so thought fair enough I not tied in. Today went to cancel after forgetting to in january and I see cant get a human on the phone and reading about people sending written letters etc. I now wish I did direct debit instead of credit card as capital one are now telling me I cannot block payments from my OWN card they just told me to keep contacting them and they then may let me do a dispute which I find ridocolous, the law is so suited alongside companies ripping people off. I also noticed setanta blocked the regional numbers listed on the saynoto0870 site so just using people trying to cancel as profit cows.0

Im really worried now I was gonna try and cancel ours this week we ve had it since it started but with the council tax going up next month and everything else rising in price its about the only place to cut costs but I can't afford to be wasting money on phone calls either.
So what is the best way, has anyone sussed to get it cancelled asap?
oh and has anyone contacted bbc watchdog programme to get this investigated?? or have they already??BR Club Member: [STRIKE]42 [/STRIKE][STRIKE]43[/STRIKE] sharing 42 due to administrative error0 -
hi there people, im not going to tell you who i am as you will know in a second to why i am doing this.
but i am one of those humans at the end of the phone at setanta sports who deal with enquires like this all the time, i have registered here not to get abused or whatever, but im here to help people. so if you have any questions or quieries to any of my companies procedures let me know. ESPECIALLY when it comes to cancellation and ill be able to help you.
setanta isnt a company for ripping off people, everything is stated within the t&c's and are available to see on our website. our company doesnt have a problem with cancelling accounts, we have whole departments dedicated to doing this. also i know its hard to ourselves but unfortunately we are a busy comany.
any questions, just ask.
Mr S.0 -
Mr S,
I just tried cancelling via the cancelations department and they said i had to write a letter to cancel it.0 -
our company doesnt have a problem with cancelling accounts
Why are so many people finding Setanta are ignoring letters of cancellation then?
Sending letters, text messages, making ridiculous amounts of phone calls in the attempt to extract £9.99 out of me (that I don't actually owe).
Could it be because your company is churning at an unbelievable rate?
Sorry, but any company that makes it difficult to cancel won't get my business again.0
