    .

It was just that you then said the above, which indicates that you're no closer to really knowing why he did it?

Anyhow, like you say, it appears to have blown over now anyhow, so I guess it really doesn't matter anymore! :)

Yeah course I did, minute I saw them.

Like I say I was annoyed and wondered if other people did this or would find it odd.

It was two days ago, I'm ok now. Just find it very odd.

Does he understand that claiming to have bought it himself was odd?

I can't imagine why he wouldn't just say - 'it was birthday present' or '74jax bought it for me'

Yes it is odd. And I would have to ask him why he said he bought it himself.

If my husband bought me an £850 present I wouldn't necessarily tell people as spending that amount on a present makes it seem as if we are very off, (even if we aren't and the £850 present was something the household needed), so it would be a case of not wanting to show off an expensive present on front of less well off friends, somehow it seems less frivolous to buy it yourself, as then it could be a one off expense rather than for every birthday

It isn't household needed. Was something for his hobby, so he would often have things like this. It was just too friends who do the same hobby. Anyone else looking at it wouldn't have a clue on cost of that makes sense.

Plus a few weeks back I asked his friends for cost on this item. To get it as a surprise but it was too expensive then, hubby gets discounts from certain dealers hence why it was cheaper.

He and his friend buy and sell kit quite often so they are always talking about who had what and who can test what out. So it isn't unusual to tell them all out be excited over New kit coming.

He chose it, he organized the purchase for discount from his dealer, I'm not sure if he collected it or took delivery of it?
Could it be that he feels that while you technically paid for it, he physically did the dealings and doings that resulted in him having it?

    Would that explain it? Semantics?

I think that's it yeah. But it was days ago now so the moment has passed. I'm now in the garden having breakfast wishing this fabulous weather will last for Plate Day.
