My local Morrisons has 3 seperate "Bargain bins". one for food (its actually 3 shelves about 10 foot long and get filled at around 6:30PM), one for old video,PC games,DVD's and one for other objects like Memory cards or car air fresheners and the like. I have seen the guy a few times picking things from the shelves to put in them.. Thats how I got my Flash car wash thingy and he told me to come back the following day to get the refills. Went back and got 2 boxes of the shampoo and one of the drying cartridges (48 shampoo 12 cartridges) all for £60. Halfords were still doing them at £3.99 for shampoo and £4.99 for the drying. Also got a good few XBOX games when they went down to £1 as well. Can also get quite a good bargain for microwave meals for work as well sometimes.

I wouldnt say anybody on here is a vulture because if we were then what would that make the poor people who slag us off and buy the same thing for double the price???

    This is still unbelievable....

Seems like everybody wants the poor assistant to get into trouble for nothing..

What did she do thats so bad..

As I said previous. She agreed with a customer and looked at the OP. The OP took this as a personal attack.

If you were standing outside the shop and a customer said "Look at all these cars double parked they should tow them" and the assistant said "I know what you mean" and then looked at another shopper... would that be a personal attack as well???. Maybe if you complain they will give all thier staff blinkers so they can only look straight ahead to avoid any confusion and causing more distress to customers.

If the woman had said her comment to the shop assistant and she ignored her then no doubt the other woman would be away complaining about her as well.. A no win situation.

I have worked with the public before and now even though I am away from that I still get asked questions by them... The amount of people that complain about you because you tell them you dont know and refer them to someone else is unbelievable.

So come on people. If the assistant had made the comment or pointed or something then maybe you would have grounds but just a sideways glance.

I would also be wary of what the OP has said anyway as they seems to think that she is a great reader of body language and tone as well as writing and even accused me of being unfriendly because I didnt agree with everything she said. If she took my first post as a personal attack then the assistant had no chance no matter what she did

Sco0ter, yet again, you have got the situation wrong, you appear to be on a personal campaign to save the 'poor' shop assistant.

Yet again I'll point out for the record that I neither, grabbed, followed, pushed, snatched, shoved, invaded personal space, snarled like a rabid dog, blocked anyone or anything. I was simply doing my shopping in a supermarket and the shopworker came into the aisle I was already in and proceeded to reduce some items.

Myself and another shopper merely sauntered over, not a run, a mad scramble, a pincher movement, but a slow amble to have a look at what had been reduced.

We chatted, nicely to each other and had a giggle about what we may or may not use and what our children would or would not eat.

Others came and went and picked up items as they also went along. It was when I went around the corner and I saw the shopworker again when the other shopper came up to her and at my expense and humiliation basically sniggered and insulted me. Not in a friendly, we're all bargain hunters together, way but in a snidey, insulting way.

Be as wary as you like Sco0ter of what I say, in fact why don't you stop commenting on this thread if it bothers you that much.

Why you seem to have taken personal umbrage to an incident I experienced is anyone's guess.

I also stand by my earlier comments that the manner in which you respond and accusations towards my account are un friendly.

  • Hi
I had a friend who used to do the reductions and she hated it and moaned about all the same people every day coming to get teh bargains as she only worked evenings and would start reducing at the same time each day. I don't know why I suppose just that she thought it was fairer if everyone got a bite of the cherry. It must be hard reducing with people peering over your shoulder, but I always feel shifty now hovering when the reductions are being done - it doesn't stop me just makes me fell mean!

I think that Sco0ter made some very valid points in a very reasonable way. The fact that the original poster chooses to interpret these points as a personal attack rather goes to support the notion that this person is prone to interpret things in a distorted way.

On the topic itself, I think you just have to have a bit of a thick skin if you are going to do this type of bargain hunting. Life's too short to worry about what other people think of you.

and too short to worry about how you are making someone else feel?

I feel a bit like a vulture when grabbing these sort of bargains, and quite happily so. When those bargains are about, and a load of people are picking up and putting down, doesn't it remind you of a load of vultures round carrion.

Not at all. I think you should have sensitivity towards the feelings of others, especially the staff in the stores. What I am saying is that you can spend your whole life worrying about dirty looks or sideways glances that you think you might get from other people, but in the end you're guessing what they they are actually thinking.
