It may sound insignificant but when you are doing a mind numbing job for hours on end you don't need the hassle.
So please leave the people to do their job.
Hi I'm not sure if you are aiming this comment at me but I'll reply anyway.
I did not approach or hassle the reduction woman in any way. I and the other shopper were also going in the same direction as the worker and whatever she had reduced we then picked it off the shelves, had a look and decided if either of us would have a use, amongst others.
We were not right up against the worker or anything. We just had a bit of a chat and a laugh between ourselves about what our children may be getting for their lunch's and tea's without the slog of having to completely cook it all from scratch.
I appreciate that some people are incredibly rude, almost aggressive about reduced items, I've seen it myself. I don't like it and will say something like 'steady on'.
I myself am not like that so was upset and angry to have been made to feel like a second class citizen due to the comments and dirty looks I got. Having slept on it I have decided to complain to the company, in fact I may drop by there today if I'm in the area to explain my irritation.
Cheers to all who support and I love those T shirts Alan....:rotfl:

An asda reducer man once snarled at me out of the side of his mouth - I was quite shocked until I realised he was saying 'put those back, I'm just going to reduce them again' lol!
Edit: I'll join the vulture club - I log onto Grabbit as soon as I get to work and then 20 times during the day so I can just shoot off to asda/tesco as soon as I see any good offers (I'm seriously contemplating running to tesco for the chilean red from a previous post!!!). Fortunately I work for DH and he's sympathetic to my vulturish ways.0 -

Doesnt anybody else think this thread is getting a bit over the top???
Ok you got a bit of a dirty look (in your opinion) but maybe the woman was just annoyed at other things. Would you like people hanging over your shoulder or following you when you are trying to do your job??
She never physically or verbally abused you at any time but yet you still see fit to complain about it. People like her work loads of hours and have to deal with customers all day and not all will be pleasent. Why not just right it off and forget about it especially as you got a good bargain from the store.0 -
We all know the enormous benefits of living OS, being astute Moneysavers and sometimes people can look down their noses at our bargain hunting.
Well more fool them! Their loan balances are more than likely going up rather than going down. Their bank balances are always empty and never healthy. I saw a woman pick up a small tin of tomatoes, when I went to look how much they were I nearly fainted with shock - 42p - I can make a whole meal for that!
About the rude assistant. Something I've not experienced myself and I wouldn't want to. However, it could be that this woman had had a hard day, something may be wrong in her life that makes her unhappy and at the moment you and her met in the giant cosmos of life it was all too much for her and it was, very sadly, you who got it.
Forgive her and get on with the glorious joy that is saving money.0 -
Ive found that a high proportion of customers and possibly staff, in Waitrose can look down their nose at you. .....
You sure it was a 'nasty' comment and not a toungue in cheek comment?:hello:0 -
I'd have gone up to the woman and told her that I only had £5 or whatever to feed my kids till the end of the week and I hoped she'd never be in that position....if nothing else it might have made her think twice before judging anyone again...it's just a form of economic bullying at the end of the day. If I could have squeezed out some tears I would have too
She should be ashamed of herself ...

But why for some insignificant stranger you will probably never see again???. Whos to say she wasnt in that position?.
This was just some other random nobody in a store making a comment to a shop floor assistant and now the OP is going to report her for it.
If the woman had made the comment then the Shop floor assistant had a rant at her about how rude she was and the like then she would have been reported for that and because she DID make the comments to her she could have been given a warning or sacked. If she had ignored her she could have been reported for being rude as well. It sounds like the assistant tried to make the best of the situation she was in and the OP has over reacted.
If the assistant had turned to her and smiled then no doubt she could have seen it as a sarcastic smile as well. The assistant seemed to be in a no win situation. Why care about what people say especially when you are getting all your shopping for a fraction of the price..
Try doing a car boot sale and see how you react when you open your boot and about 20 people are standing behind you wanting to see everything you have or continually asking prices of things you havent even taken out yet. I have more than once told people to £$%& off because they are continually hanging about. It isnt that different when they are reducing stuff in store. At my local Morrisons people actually hang about thier clearance shelfs for ages because they know what time they stock them at. and actually take the items from the trolley before they are put on the shelves to beat others to them. There is nothing wrong with this and I have done it but to take offence at the assistant because of some strangers comment is just unfair0 -
I'm quite thick skinned, If somebody made a comment, I'd try and think of a good comeback.
But some people are more sensitive to side ways comments from staff than me. It's just how it is, if some feel hurt by it, it's not their fault. IMO there is a slight difference to feeling hurt by a comment, to taking offense.Quotes in context only please.0 -

But the comment wasnt made by the staff thats what Im getting at. It was some stranger who was more than likely just annoyed that she didnt have the bottle to hang about as well.0 -

No why, people reply to threads Sco0ter, that's what forums are for.

As I already stated, although you obviously have difficulty understanding that, I wasn't following her around, I was legitimately going around the aisles doing my shopping.
She never physically or verbally abused you at any time but yet you still see fit to complain about it.
Err, yes she did, she agreed with the very rude customer that I was a Vulture. In my world that's an insult, it wasn't said tongue in cheek I am quite able to determine a bit of humour as opposed to a bit of nastiness.
People like her work loads of hours *just like me*and have to deal with customers all day and not all will be pleasent. Why not just right it off and forget about it especially as you got a good bargain from the store.
Oh ok then seeing as you give such a reasoned argument.

Wrong again, if I'd have overreacted I'd have flung my shopping on the floor, screamed my head off in sheer rage and marched off to find the nearest manager - that's an overreaction.
If the assistant had turned to her and smiled then no doubt she could have seen it as a sarcastic smile as well.
Nope I wouldn't, I am a friendly, positive human being who will strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, not only socially but also professionally. I can however am adept at deciphering body language and tone and intent behind comments. Just as I can gather the non friendliness behind your comments Sco0ter.
