I used to do reductions when i used to work in tescos bakery adn to be honest, its bloody awful. Ive been shoved, sworn at , snatched from, and generally pushed about.
I certainly chucked strops and took my gun away, saying things like "if you are going to act liike that, you can forget it!"
I never am aggressive nowadays..If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

I always buy the reductions, maybe we should start a "vulture club",we could make badges and wear them with pride while grabbing the bargains.0

they are just jealous cos there not getting it.....ha ha
It can be very intimidating being surrounded by pushing and shoving customers who virtually snatch things out of your hand with little or no gratitude.
Not implying that any of you do that, but I have had it happen on more than one occasion to me (both as an employee and as a customer too).
Edit: Saying that, the woman should have kept her opinions for when she was off the shop floor.Illegitimi non carborundum.0 -
Im happy to be a 'vulture', mind you, i wouldnt dream of pushing and shoving to get a reduction, and if the reduction person is there, i always say thank you.0

Maybe we could for a club, or should that be flock, how about a gossip of vultures?

Stick to the book aisle and tell 'em you're a Culture Vulture (maybe not in a supermarket though).
Or try the Cantona gambit - "zee seagulls will always follow zee trawler", they'll think you're one of them mad women and keep quiet.0 -
I would definitely class the people who grab, snatch and generally make a downright cat fight about getting the cheap stuff vultures, but definitely not if the OP was civil and polite - she sounds as if she was not causing anyone any trouble or offence.
I remember a few years ago in Safeway on Xmas eve, there were about half a dozen separate people waiting for the THREE remaining fresh turkeys to be reduced to less than they had already been. anyone who went anywhere near the turkeys were met with growls (and I really do mean growls!) from the mob. That is the sort of thing I would calss as people being greedy vultures.0 -
What a nasty piece of work. You as do the rest of the world are entitled to a bargain and well done you for being in the right place at the right time.
The miserable old b'tch must have been jealous.
I was at the checkout once and there was an empty trolley in front of me with a handbag in it. Me & partner looked around to see if someone was nearby but didn't see anyone. A couple of minutes later a women in her late 50's/early 60's came over and retrieved her trolley & bag. I asked if she had realised that she'd left the bag and she said "yes". So I said your very trusting, she retorted in a really horrible angry tone "IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS". I couldn't believe it. I bet if it was stolen it would have been very much my business!!!
Some people are just damn right bloody horrible.0 -
Its a typical example of a tiny minority tarring everyone with the same brush. If you don't push, shove and be damn right rude, don't worry about it.
They're reduced to be sold, if you're at the right place at the right time, well done :beer:Quotes in context only please.0 -

tough - if she doesn't like it, she could always get another job. why make the op feel bad about buying stuff and, anyway, like you say, the op wasn't doing that.
vulture and proud!
