Apparently I'm a 'vulture'!

Not sure what I can do really but I went into a supermarket to get some flour (new breadmaker owner = :j ) anyway I digress.... whilst I was looking in the aisles the 'reduction' woman came by and started reducing loads of food. So like any good moneysaver I had a look and myself and another lady got a few items. The 'reduction' woman just kept on going so we both looked at what she reduced and between us decided if we wanted them or not. Not everything obviously, just bits and pieces. Other shoppers got stuff as well.
Myself and the other shopper were happily chatting away about how well timed this was as it meant that we could fill up the freezer.
Anyway we parted ways and I went around another aisle just shopping when I saw the 'reduction' woman up ahead of me. As I was going the same way as her I stopped nearby to buy some items (not reduced) she kind of looked at me out of the corner of her eye with, I have to say, a pretty dirty look on her face.
As I pushed my trolley nearer another shopper came up and said to her (the worker) 'they're like vulture's aren't they', to which the worker replied 'It's awful I hate doing this part of the job, I really hate it and yes I know what you mean', then gave me a shifty sideways look again.
I was so cheesed off as the comment was obviously aimed at me, I kind of stood there for a bit before thinking I'd better go off because I may say something I'll regret.
Before I went I did see the other shopper take a newly reduced item from the worker though.
Anyway when I got to the tills 2 lovely workers helped me pack and actually congratulated me on getting so many bargains. I mentioned the above and they were really shocked, however as the 'Vulture' comment came from a shopper not connected with the supermarket I didn't feel there was much I could do.
But I'm left feeling quite upset about this, I felt humiliated by those two and their comments.
Anyway I totted up what the shopping shuld have come to, £76.40 and I got it for £22.60 so I am a happy bunny on the whole.
I may email the supermarket though but I don't reckon there is a whole lot they can do about the incident.

Wow well done on a brill shop, hearing those comments would have upset me
aswell.
I would email a complaint to their head office, you never know they may even send you some vouchers. Not Buying it 2015!0 -
If you're a vulture, then I'm one too! I often 'swoop' on the reduction lady and often stand waiting while she marks things down! Nothing to be ashamed of, the other shopper obviously has money to waste.
We vultures must flock together and make sure we're first in the pecking order!!0 -
hi, something similar happened to me in asda, i went and put it in writing and gave it in got 10.00 gift voucher, . never feel humiliated at getting a bargain they are just jealous cos there not getting it.....ha hapats :T0

I would just think of the £53.80 that you saved, and smile serenely!
Maybe an email to the supermarket might make you feel a bit better tho - it could be something they need to address in staff training.
BTW, I'm the same - why pay full price if it's something you need / will use?!0 -
I'm a vulture & proud of it, lol.
Maybe we could for a club, or should that be flock, how about a gossip of vultures?

Apparently it's a "wake of vultures"...suppose we could all follow "in the wake of the reduction person"!
Doesn't trip of the tongue tho - any ideas?!0 -
What a nerve! Vulture indeed, I would complain to the store if I were you.
What right have they to judge anyway? You're as entitled as the next person to have reduced items. You might not be able to make such a saving again for years!!
When all's said and done the supermarket won't have lost anything* and it won't have made any difference to that particular staff member - perhaps she was jealous that she'd missed the bargains, catty mare.
A good example of how supermarkets overprice =
2 fresh pineapple for £2.50 (supermarket)*
2 similar size fruit from market for £1.20 (local marke):wave:0 -
I used to do reductions when i used to work in tescos bakery adn to be honest, its bloody awful. Ive been shoved, sworn at , snatched from, and generally pushed about.
I certainly chucked strops and took my gun away, saying things like "if you are going to act liike that, you can forget it!"
I never am aggressive nowadays.. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
well my dh is the reduction man in his asda bakery and doesnt mind at all. i would complain personally wether she said it or not she was rude about you and thats not good customer service. then again im picky about good servise!0

There's a fair few of us around then - LOL.
I am off for a spot of "vulturing" at Mr T's after tea!
If noone bought it, the reduced stuff would only end up in a skip so we are doing our bit for the environment too!:)
