Ok girls, ( and Hubert, you can be a girl for the night) polish up your nails and sharpen your stiletto heels, the hen night starts here! Tatty, put the little veil on that Mrs Doyle made for you, it will at least hide what Bertha Scroggins did to your hair. Scotmum, I love the full Scottish warrior kit, but haven't I seen that ginger furry sporran before somewhere?

What, scotmum is using my CU Jimmy hat as a sporran?!!!!!

Thank goodness we managed to persuade Tatty that a hen do does not involve getting dressed up in a big fluffy hen suit.

Hubert, you do look very fetching, though you're not the one getting married,so why on earth have you come dressed as a big meringue?

I just hope Helga's voles behave themselves.

Settle down marmite, your CU Jimmy hat is not being used as scotmum's sporran. It is in a safe place. Helga' s voles are nesting in it.

  • Good evening fellow NSDers! How's everyone this evening? I thoroughly enjoy checking in and reading inspirational post from like-minded people. My hubby thinks I am slightly obsessed. I'd say he's probably right. I've learned so much from the forum here on MSE. I think he too is obsessed with Dave Ramsey's audiobook Money Makeover although he has now moved on to the audiobook The Millionaire Next Door, upon the recommendation of no one else but Dave Ramsey. We don't mind our obsessions/addictions really. They are free and they have been the force behind our momentum with the debt free journey.

A few weeks ago I had some issues with my car. The dealer/garage did a health check on my car and found several issues, including a full service, to the tune of £650. We didn't jump straight in. We saved the money over two months so as not to touch the emergency fund. Today, OH took the car to the dealer/garage. We managed to get the price down to £550 which is good news. However, they failed the MOT due to a crack on the windscreen that resulted from a stone chip whilst driving on the motorway. It was fixed by Autoglass but was not completely restored. Because the stone chip was on the line of vision, the MOT failed. They quoted £440 to replace the windscreen. Needless to say my OH's stress level went through the roof. When I got home from work I phoned Autoglass straight away and asked if they could replace my windscreen. It turns out that they could do so via my insurance without affecting my No Claims Discount. I just have to pay the excess of £75. They are coming on Monday to do the job. Whew. What a difference. - from £440 to £75! ahhhhh his stress level slowly went down. All the while I thought I was calm and collected until later in the afternoon I felt slightly dizzy and a quick check with the BP machine showed my BP was 192/105. Waaaah danger zone! I was made to sit back, out my feet up and relax. Nurse's order (OH)

On a positive note, I made zero spend today. (The car is still in the garage and will not need paying til tomorrow) DS2 came back in one piece from Light Water Valley. Some may think I'm too morbid but after what happened in Alton Towers, one can't help but worry when your kids go to amusement parks. DS1 is ready to go to Italy for his school trip, all bags packed. He struck a deal with us. He has €265 as his spending money (equivalent of £200). He has calculated his daily allowance, separated his emergency fund and said if he could save and bring back the equivalent of £100 could we change it back to pounds so he could deposit the money to his bank account and his Cash ISA. That's like music to my ears! So he has been paying attention to our cost-cutting ways! Who would say no to that? Proud momma here. Tissue please. Sorry for being too Melodramatic.

:T for your triumphs on NSD's, debt repayment, cost-cutting and diet modification. Two more weeks til the end of the month. Let us all keep up the good work! Good night all!

Phew, that's a relief. As long as the voles are on their best behaviour mind.

So,it's Igor's chest wig I take it that is now on sporran duty.Honestly, the liberty....

Here comes Hubert with a big tray of cocktails.
    What's the name?
Long Island Nice Cup of Tea (and egg sarnie)?
    Mrs Doyle will be pleased.
He was too shy to order (Manky) Socks on the Beach.

I've just now seen that you quoted three targets 12,15 and 20.I see what you meant yesterday. :o
I'm pleased that your DS has an MSE head on his shoulders and that you found a better deal for the windscreen replacement.
Yikes to the high BP.Are you feeling ok now?

Thanks marmite! The BP has gone down a bit and hopefully will return to normal after a good night's rest. It's probably a coincidence - nothing to do with the car issues but due to my erratic compliance to my medication. Bad patient that I am.

Party on, girls, you don't often get hen nights as good as this...The Good Ole Boys look fabulous in their cross dressing gear, even Hubert is amazed at the height of their stiletto heels, and the music is brilliant! Look at Mrs Doyle in her new hat boogie-ing away - mind that teapot Mrs D!

Oh hello, they're playing that Hot Chocolate number, You Sexy Thing....who's that?

Oh my giddy aunt! Somebody has only gone and hired a male stripper! Look out, Tatty!
