Oh,and well done to #3.
Yes she used to have packed lunch at primary. Secondry school is going to cost a fortune uniform looks like costing 200 as it all comes from uniform suppliers no more supermarket uniforms and the school dinners is an estimate if she has snacks at break time too it could be more. Its up to her what she spends. Still got another DD at primary school who needs new uniform and childminder to pay for.
Dont know which way to turn at the minute looks like the flexible friend will have to make an appearance which i really dont want.#Sealed pot #085.

NSD number 8 today!
I went to the dentist today for a routine check up. Everything was fine. Yay. Dentist said he could put the corsodyl on prescription but i could buy it over the counter for "a couple of quids". I politely asked to put it on prescription as I have PPC. He looked at me as if I just grew another head. I politely told him again I would prefer it if he put it on prescription as I have a pre-paid certificate. Then the penny dropped. He immediately printed the prescription. When I went to the pharmacy, it turned that the corsodyl is actually £4.50 and not "a couple of quid" that my dentist thought it was. I am glad I persisted (albeit politely) and saved £4.50. Every little helps.
This month our fixed tariff with our energy provider has ended. Through the Energy Club here on MSE, we found a better deal and today we heard back from the new energy provider and the transfer is on the way. We used to pay £105 for dual energy with our current provider but with the new one it will be £47/month. We are over the moon about the potential savings. Can't wait.
I am hoping for another NSD tomorrow. If I am successful at hanging on the tomorrow's NSD, it would be my second lot of three in a row. Fingers crossed.

Hubert is now cross eyed, having thoughtfully offered to 'watch this space' with his nose two centimetres from the screen since yesterday afternoon. Can he stop now? He's ballgirl this afternoon and we don't want him falling all over the place.

Yeah our local village has a scarecrow festival where they all put scarecrows in their gardens, have cakes in the village hall and open gardens you can mosy around! Its a beautiful village I can only dream of being able to afford to live in so its worth it! Will be voting for best scarecrow, theme is the Oscars!!

It's never too early to learn about money management.Could you explain why packed lunches are a 'better' option, that money's tight because of other additional expenses?
I know that with peer pressure and not wanting to be the odd one out,it won't be easy. But the money saved will be put to good use elsewhere (towards the new school uniform).
Another useful lesson to DD that money does not grow on trees.
You could explain to her these extra expenses, and that it means cutting back elsewhere.
I presume that she wasn't the only one to have a packed lunch at primary school.
From one year to the next, suddenly packed lunches are not 'ok'?
Maybe you could reach an agreement that she has school lunches for the first month say, just to settle in,then it's back to packed lunches?
You also said 'it's up to her what she spends'.Surely it depends on what money you give her?
Maybe time for a useful lesson on why spending with the credit card when you don't have the money available is a vicious circle and something you wish to avoid/that by using your credit card you're spending money that you don't have/that by avoiding all unnecessary expenses ie school dinners and snacks, you can avoid this extra debt?
I hope that you're not offended by these suggestions. It is your money after all,and making sure you don't go into more debt is a priority for you.
Anyway....
Sending you a big virtual ((((hug)))).0 -

Igor is already scribbling out the rough draft for a BBQ,including his famous BLT stoatburgers and shredded sprouts coleslaw,Olde Fartinge Bishope (the beer) then nettle ice cream with chocolatey sprinkles and mashed strawbs.Tea is also on offer,of course.
Mrs Doyle has kindly offered to do a few egg sarnies for the hungry hippos.
Yummy.
Aren't you the lucky one! :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
