Using Paypal to qualify for a Halifax DD

I read thats its possible to use Paypal to qualify as one direct debit to get the £5 per month with Halifax.
So far i have added the Halifax account my paypal account and added a direct debit instruction, but im not sure how i would setup a regular small payment (direct debit) to come out of my Halifax account to my Paypal account.
I know i could make a purchase using paypal each month which would be taken from my Halifax account, but i would prefer a smaller automated transfer is possible.
Im sure ther emust be a simple answer, but im not sure what it is.
I hope someone can help.
Thanks a lot.

You can't set up a regular Direct Debit.
You have to do it manually every month using the "PayPal moves money from your bank account" option. When the money arrives in your PayPal account you can transfer it back out to your bank account.

Thanks for the replies.
Would it be possible to ask Halifax to set up a direct debit of a set amount, or would that be classed as a standing order?
I was trying to avoid yet another account, if i do set up the Tesco Internet Saver how does that work?
Thanks0 -

1. It is the organisation pulling the money that sets up the DD, so NO
2. You ask Tesco to set up either a single or regular "Money In" transaction to your Tesco Internet Saver account, giving the sort code, account number etc. They go away and set it all up as a DD.
EDIT: Do use a serious amount, e.g. £5.49.0 -
If you use a credit card each month you could set it up to pay via direct debit, e.g. minimum/full payment.
As a tip, if you had the Halifax's Clarity card, spend >£300 and get an additional £5 from that  (Just pay >£1k in your Reward account)0 -
yes you can use paypal as a DD for halifax rewards but as others said you need to manually ask paypal to take the money from your account each month.
You can also use tesco internet saver account and set up a DD to go out each month automatically without any extra effort.
I use paypal for my halifax account when I log into my account to skim of the £5 each month on the 2nd of the month, I log into paypal and ask them to take the DD, then its done for the month... it takes 7 days to come out of the halifax account but as long as it in the calendar month it will qualify

Sorry to jump in but, I had not thought about this previously, but looking at getting the Santander 123 account also. The more DD's i transfer to the 123 the more i can earn, but i still need the 2 DD's for the Halifax account. Is it in the terms and conditions that it has to be a monthly direct debit? Is the Santander the same also?
I have a couple of yearly DD's that come out at various times, are these not counted towards the Halifax reward?
Thanks.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Not sure that I quite follow the above but ....
The Tesco technique solves all the DD problems. You can set up many, many DDs that way.
Just a comment on Santander 123. The DDs don't have to pay each month - just to be set up. That said, it makes sense to set up for monthly payments - and be aware that the Santander months begins on the anniversary of the day the account opens, so if you opened it on the 14th, avoid, say, the 10th to the 14th for the DD.
For Halifax rewards it has to actually pay each and every calendar month - and, again, set up the DD dates away from the last few days of the month.0 -
I have the halifax account and have plenty of direct debits, but thinking of opening the 123 account to get cash off our bills also.
Some of my halifax direct debits are monthly, some are quarterly and some are yearly.
Does either the halifax or 123 account state the direct debits must be monthly?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
