How long did it take for you to get set up?

I applied yesterday and was succesful and set up an initial direct debit for the halifax account but haven' t had any emails or anything.

After you've set up a mandate Tesco will write to you, thus:

Following your recent request to add a new linked account, we have also set up a direct debit mandate for the above account. This can be used to make regular direct debit payments or to make one off payments from your linked account to your Tesco Bank savings account.

Please Note - Unless you agreed to deposit a regular amount to your savings account by direct debit from your linked account, we will not take any action. This direct debit mandate is in place should you wish to make these arrangements in the future

The second paragraph is a reminder that this is a two-step process. First the mandate is set up using the account info you gave. Once the mandate is in place, the second process is to actually use it. This is the stage at which you enter how much, when and how often. You probably have done these both already - in which case it is all set up and ready to pull. You can always check the status via the Tesco Internet Saver "Manage Account > Move Money In > Manage Payments" option, for the schedule of upcoming payments including, hopefully, your just-set-up payment(s)

It's just that I can't get access to the Tesco account. Does it take time to process?

I filled in all the online forms and set up an initial direct debit but since doing all of that I haven't received any emails to confirm that I have an account. Does it take a while?

I can't answer that. I can only talk about the sequence in which I opened accounts and obtained Internet access last October. A different sequence - and 9 months later - it may be different. Even then I'd be relying on my memory - which isn't so hot nowadays. If you've got a date for the monthly DD pull, though, I guess that that would imply that the DD is fully operational as of that date - and that you will receive the written confirmation I've previously referred to.

Having set up one, and in the process of setting up another Tesco Web Saver, there has been little in the way on confirmation.

After initially setting it up, there was no email / text / phone call confirming the application had been made. A week later (or so) and a requests for documents (2 forms of ID signed by doctor, police etc.) appears and promptly returned to them. A further week later and a letter arrives informing me of how to login to the online banking using my sort code / account number (which I have yet to receive). Another few days and those details arrive.

Finally, a third letter asking me to sign and confirm in order for me to remove funds from the account.

In total, it took about a month, start to finish.

Yup, i phoned them to ask if everything was okay. They said that they don't issue confirmation emails and that the welcome pack will be with me in the post in about a week. Here's hoping I don't have to go providing ID and signatures also.

Is there a reason you think you wont? Luckily teacher friends supplied the signature i needed.

Ironically, they sent me text messages basically reiterating each of the letters they sent requesting something, a few days after receiving each of the letters. What would be more useful would be the confirmations they received said returns.

I'm not sure. Is it a standard part of the application process? I wasn't aware that it was.

I got the impression that some people applied and were ready to go right away.
