ive used sour cream in place of a white sauce in a lasagne - saves on the hassle of making the white sauce & the messy pot afterwards lol!! :D

Hi, A pot of cream that's gone sour needs using up. I never use the oven for baking, preferring my bread maker, (as I *think* it's more economical and sees to itself), for both bread and cakes. Do you think your recipe will work in one?

If I made up some cheesy potatoes that I usually do for Sunday lunch can I make up a batch of them and freeze them. Basically I make a baked potato, dig out the middle, mash it up with cheese and sour cream and then put them under the grill with a bit more cheese on top. If I was to do all of the above apart from the extra cheese on top could I freeze them and take them out as and when I needed them?

At home in Germany we use sour cream on Flammkuchen. Basically dough base (wholemeal or white), rolled out, spread THICKLY with sour cream and snips of smoked bacon and diced onion if you like, bake gas 6 or 200C about 15-20 mins. Yummy foreign food!

I have a 170ml pot of sour cream. I will be using 2 tbsps of cream from it today (60ml? not very up on the metrics!). That will leave 140 ml left. What can I do with it? I don't want to just chuck it away.
I'm happy to freeze it if it can be frozen .

I really love sour cream and chopped fresh chives on a hot baked potato.

Or you can make Beef Stroganoff.

    :D

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

Or you can make a cucumber salad.
I know it's not very english thing, but my friends love it.
Peel skin off 1 medium size cucumber, grate it (like you would grate cheese), salt and pepper it (don't go easy on the salt, the cucumber will suck it all in) and let it be for 20 mins. The cucumber will let lots of juice out so don't be surprised. Then mix in the soured cream.
Goes well with shnitzels and mash potatoes, or burgers... Anything that is fairly dry without sauces etc. Just put it on the table as a side dish.
If you put it in the fridge for while and take it out in summer when you are doing BBQ, it is lovely and refreshing (very cooling stuff). That is how my friends loves it most.
