I've said it before and I will say it again, this challenge changes the way you think about food and spending! Trying to get over the fact a nearly empty fridge doesn't mean there is no food in the house is a tricky one though and even the kids are like muuuum there's no food but slowly I'm realising that so long as what I need to make the meals for that week then that's all that matters. The school holidays are tricky though because the kids seem to constantly want something to eat and whatever I'm buying only lasts half the time it usually does. They are a whole punnet of grapes yesterday that would normally last 2-3 days but hey at least it's healthy! I'm also loving my new halo health fryer. A £2 bag of potatoes lasts a week and saves a fortune on nasty chips or potato waffles and even super fussy ds is loving the skin on wedges I'm making so score there!Trying to fix my finances whilst living with 3 kids and 2 cats! 👩🏻👧🏻👦🏻👶🏼🐱🐱

I have had a good couple of NSDs, but I went to Sainsbury's on Thursday and spent £23.22 on food for a OH free weekend and treats for his journey, but I've woken up quite ill
luckily the food can keep for a week or so won't go to waste.

DD and BF arrived yesterday for weekend and Mr T order was seriously increased for salad stuff and girl food etc.
So £66.25 today rather than the £25 first draft. £41 extra for a weekend visit of DD, WOW. She is such a melon piggy. Do not really care!
Have fun all

So, I mentioned a while ago I was going to do a bulk cook. That has happened today so my food bill is above what I'd hoped.
Total spend so far £151.22
But the freezer is stocked up with 23 meals (£2.40 average cost) which will take us through till about this time next month with only small spends each week on lunch ingredients and milk and the like.
Would have done a bigger bulk cook, but its looking dubious that I will fit all of this into the one freezer!Save £12k in 2014 Member 81 £1930.23/£50000 -
Hi all,
Spent an unplanned £20 today at L!dl, had planned a romantic evening including a 'steak meal' a la Del Boy for DH and myself, only to find DS had changed his plans and would be eating with us, so had to buy another bit of steak for him, also bought some new pots and walnuts and a bottle of wine, a few additional household bits.
On the plus side, the steak was lovely and I made Stilton and walnut stuffed mushrooms, which were lush....

Went shopping today and spent quite a lot (for me) as needed lots of things like ali foil, plastic bags and stain remover. Also DH wanted fish for tea and I bought extra fruit as I couldn't resist the apricots and cherries. So all-in-all
Home Bags...............£ 5.64
£ Land.....................£ 2.00
Al*i.........................£ 21.25
Morrys.....................£ 19.78
So a total of £ 48.67 to add. This means I'm just over the £150 and so £ 49.55 left for the rest of the month. However, I do have plenty in and enough of things like yoghurt, fruit and pack-ups for the next seven days. Fingers xd i should be able to do it okay
Hope you all have a super Sunday
