Has anyone else successfully opened an account online, internet banking all up and running and activated code etc., but have received a letter to pop into branch to verify ID and address before application can be progressed?

No, but hubby has just opened a TSB, and when he tried to transfer money out of TSB, it said the payment had failed, and it logged him out.
He then tried to log in again, and got a message saying his internet banking was suspended, and he's get a call.
He did receive the call from TSB, and it was just a secutity check they asked him lots of questions then said all ok.
He's since made the payment out of the TSB account.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
Presumably you have failed the online checking, which is usually because you can't be found on the Electoral Register - are you on it? My TSB account was opened and activated without me going anywhere near a branch, although my local one did ring me up to say that they're there if I need them.0

That's why I'm confused.
Applied online, confirmed and passed checks and issused account details straight away. Never had a problem with online applications. Am on electoral register.
Full online banking has also been successfully activated.
I'm more intrigued as to what's going on.0 -

It's a pretty standard request to ask someone to provide ID its nothing to worry about.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
The letter gives the impression that the application cannot be progressed until ID is verified, but why have I been able to fully utilise the account?
The letter also insists on the branch to contact an office number, rather than just validating details in branch?0 -
2 minute phone call to ask?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I opened my TSB A/C Online didn't need to go branch at all & only been once since opened A/C IN January0

I opened mine online - all checks appeared ok, account opened, internet banking set up etc.
Few days later I tried to transfer money in and the payment got rejected. Two phone calls later I need to go into branch to provide ID which I did today and all ok. Got back home and had a CIFAS letter from them as they thought someone was applying in my name and to go into branch with ID! Will try and find out on Monday what caused the trigger.
I have to restart the switch process again but looks like some companies have already changed DD details.0 -

I recently had to take documents into a branch of HSBC when opening an account. I've opened numerous accounts elsewhere without needing to supply documents prior to that.0 -
From memory both Lloyds and TSB with there similar computer systems they both want you to go into branch with ID to complete setting up your account. I did it both times I opened an account online.0
