Oh poor you mrsspendalot - sorry to hear that. If it's any comfort, DS2 failed today, too:( with 2 minors and 1 major - he was at a double mini-roundabout and at the second one didn't give way(he was under the impression that HE was on the roundabout so it was his right of way)! He's totally fed-up and (typical dramatic teen:rolleyes: ) declared he's obviously not meant to drive and is never going to drive again, lol! Then he stomped out to meet friends. I went online to re-book and it's October for him, too. When he's got over himself I'm going to suggest going for a cancellation - he's actually a really good driver, I was convinced he was going to pass. Oh. god, I hope the AS results on Thursday aren't too bad...........

I passed the second time too, the first examiner I had was a complete nightmare, he even grabbed the steering wheel when I was on a dual carrigeway because I was about to overtake a car and he thought I wouldnt have time before my junction came up (its not like I could have carried straight on or anything ). He totally threw my confidence with that and I failed miserably with like 12 minors and two majors. I rebooked and went for my test again about a fortnight later, had a different examiner and passed with only one minor fault (Top driver me :D). My instructor put in a complaint about the first examiner but I dont know if anything came from it.
Keep at it, you'll get it in the end :)

Awwwww sorry for DS2. It's awful but I do feel better now, so I'm sure he will too. Heres to hoping we both manage to find cancellations coz October seems so far off.

    Hello-

October is such a long way off, do try for a cancellation. When I booked my last test I went on the website about three times a day (knew my licence number off by heart!) and got a cancellation eventually so I'm sure you'll get one if you persevere. Good luck with it!!

Hi Mrs S - I was not around yesterday, so did not see your post. Really sorry to hear that you did not pass, but I'm pleased to see that you are reacting positively to the result.
I feel sorry for people who have to take today's driving test - I did mine back in the 70's, after 5 lessons (all I could afford). During the test, someone pulled out in front of me, without indicating, and I slammed the brakes on so hard that the examiner almost ended up in the windscreen - and dropped all his paperwork. I passed, but I would say that the REAL learning starts AFTER the test.
I hope you get an early re-test, and I'm sure that, with the experience you have gained this time, you will pass with flying colours.

  • Hi Mrs S

So sorry to hear about your test, but glad to see you're positive about the next one.

Clearly the best drivers pass on the 2nd attempt (that's what got me through my second test :rotfl:)

Everything crossed for you for October

Sorry you didn't pass - how annoying to come so close! At least you know you CAN do it though, and I'm sure you will fly through it in October. Good luck!

Hello, mrsspendalot, how's the practice going?
I thought I would just say it really is worth perservering with the hunt for a cancellation - DS2 was originally re-booked for October, managed to bring it forward to Sept 11th, and just now the website was offering next Weds (29th Aug) which is the first day he (or you!) is eligible to re-take it anyway! So fingers crossed for next Wednesday......

That was checking the dsa.gov.uk site just whenever I thought about it/could be bothered etc - so not every day, but sometimes more than once in a day. No extra costs involved if you change the date.
